These mobile QBs that are invading the NFL will never have the passing IQ of a Manning, Brady, Brees etc. They will never win a Super Bowl.  They are just a fad.

Do the names Roger Staubach, Joe Montana, Joe Theismann, Jim McMahon, Jeff Hostetler, Steve Young,Brett Favre, John Elway, and Ben Roethlisberger mean anything to you?

Wilson has a real good chance of proving you wrong in two Weeks.

I don't like the read option when used regularly but a QB with that potential adds something to your running game and keeps their d honest

Watching lynch against new orleans where they had to take a guy away to account for Wilsons athleticism and watching kap get the first down that clinched the game against green bay are great examples of what a mobile QB can do

I like mobile and provided they can pass too

Seahawks defense is going to be the reason why they win the Super Bowl than Russel Wilson.  The main reason by a landslide.

Those QBS majority of the time looked to pass first then run.  These new fad mobile, read option QBs  are more run than pass, and easily bail out of a play and choose to run.  When they drop back to pass, they only look a quarter to a half of the field.  They lack going through the progessions.  Then they escape the pass rush to use their legs and athleticism to wow us with such a great play.

Why the Seattle team wins

1. Defense

2. Beast Mode

3. 12th Man

4. Special Teams

5. QB

That was not always the case with them, especially Staubach, Elway and Young.

You are correct in that it is paramount that QBs are able to function effectively in the pocket, make progressions, etc. However gaining those abilities does not necessarily come at the expense of mobility. A QB can be mobile and still function well in the pocket.

That is called a running quarterback, which is not the same as a mobile quarterback. A mobile quarterback is someone like Steve Young - a dual threat, good at both running and passing.

What makes you think half the stadium is enough fans to make a difference? The Broncos will have at least as many fans as the Seahawks.

I don't hate mobile QB's, I hate game managers who have the play "not to lose" mindset.

You hit the nail on the head, Bullseye. That is why I love mobile quarterbacks - they are true dual threats and exciting players to watch.

Think about this: Colin Kaepernick and Russell Wilson are still young so the fact they are not great passers now does not mean they can't be great passers in 10 years. I think people assume they hit their ceilings already, which does not make it true. Does anyone know with absolute certainty they can't improve as pocket passers?

Johnny Manziel has been compared to Wilson a lot here. Where do the comparisons end?

Truth.

Wilson over the last 6-7 weeks has played like a game manager.

Like he's afraid to take a chance. I hate hate hate that style.

Of the top three - Bridgewater, Manziel, and Bortles - do any of them play "not to lose" instead of to win?

Afraid to take a chance? I remember one play he had plenty of room to run but threw the ball anyway - and completed the pass. I call that taking a chance because often when that happens the pass is incomplete. In fact Joe Buck questioned his decision not to run with it.

And of course I will never forget Fail Mary, but that is another story.

Bortles? I don't know....but Bridge and Manziel are gunslingers/ willing to take shots downfield regularly to make big plays.

I was speaking of the team in general, not in the one game.
