3 GM's compare this QB class to the 2011 class

#21

Well, 7 QBs were taken in the top 3 rounds of the 2011 draft.

3 of them were Cam Newton, Andy Dalton, and Colin Kaepernick.  Kaepernick has enjoyed the most success despite being the sixth off the board.  The seventh picked was Mallett, who remains a bit of a question mark.  So if we're to pick a QB in the top 3 rounds, and this draft is like 2011, we have a 50/50 chance of getting it right.

From what I've seen, McCarron might be Dalton.  I like that comparison a lot more than the Barkley one, anyway.

Unbelievably, I think the closest thing to Cam in this draft is...

Manziel.

Yeah right. GM's don't say this type of thing.

I am not seeing a Cam comparison in any of the 2014 Quarterback draft class. Cam is a much bigger and stronger man than any of the first round possible picks at his position. I wish Cam were available for us to draft, or a reasonable facsimile.

Manziel is in no shape nor fashion, Cameron Newton...

Jameis Winston is the closest to Cam Newton. Sean Mannion is the closest to Dan Marino, no?

I agree with you.. Manziel was the closest, well better then Cam statistically, but Winston prolly closest size wise, but he more of a pure passer and Cam a scrambler.

I don't know why people are surprised somebody said this about this years class because it is completely true. There are a lot of potential C, D, and Fs here, and not enough As, or Bs. I think Bridgewater is the only one here with real potential and he is a B.

Not me. I did not like Cam at all. Boy was I wrong.

Nobody knows the potential of this class.  I doubt many people thought Kaep and Wilson would be this good.  A lot has to do with where they end up also

Me. I remember when people were saying that Gabbert could go number one and I could do nothing but laugh. Cam had that pick in the bag.

I wasn't part of the board then, but Cam was my choice from the get go.

Winston has more upside than Cam, IMO.

Since we're "redrafting", I doubt many would take Cam over Kaepernick in hindsight.

I certainly wouldn't.

I'd certainly take Cam over Kapernick.  If Cam were in San Francisco, I think we'd see the 49ers in the Super Bowl right now.  I think Kapernick is overrated.  Badly.

I really hope there is a great QB in the draft this year, and we get him.  Whoever it is.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

I'll take Cam over Kaep too.

Pirks you really don't know much about qbs

I would take Cam in a New York minute over Kaep

If the Cam was with the Niners they would be 15-1, in the SB and heavy favorites...

Kaep is the most overrated qb in the league

Wait till San Fran has to pay him, won't be surprised if Harbaugh lets him walk if won't resign for cheap

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing, just wanted to point out that i don't think Cam has peaked yet.  He showed a lot of maturity in his game this year and could be on his way to becoming "great".

In terms of the type of offense they come from, yes
