Comparing the top 4 QBs in this year's draft w/graphics

Pretty good breakdown here:

<a class="bbc_url" href='http://www.rotoworld.com/articles/cfb/45952/349/2014s-quarterback-conundrum'>http://www.rotoworld.com/articles/cfb/45952/349/2014s-quarterback-conundrum</a>

Where Did They Throw the Ball?

The ‘zones’ in the chart represent where the QB threw the ball on the field, that is exactly the spot the receiver caught the ball. This is to make sure yards after the catch don’t influence our opinion on the QBs.

How Accurate Were They?

This requires a bit of explaining. The chart below represents each QBs accuracy in the individual target zones when adjusting for drops by their receivers. The colors represent how that accuracy compares to the ‘Average QB’, green is better than average, yellow average, red is below-average. Let’s get to it.

How Do They Do Under Pressure?

I’ve got quite a few stats for these QBs, but for the sake of brevity I’ve picked their completion percentage while being blitzed and under pressure to highlight. For reference, a blitz counts regardless of whether the O-line picks it up, but under pressure is when the QB is moved off his spot or has to get rid of the ball quicker than anticipated.

How Did Their Systems Affect Them?

My goal here was to take out the variability of systems they all played in. Thus, how would Derek Carr have performed in an average system? This is imperfect, but it gives you a feel for how the systems helped or harmed them. What I’ve done is taken out drops and then used the data to create an average system. The result is what their overall completion percentage would have been if they had played in an average system and the difference between the actual and adjusted completion percentages.

LOL it used to universally just be the top 3 QB....

But now all of a sudden, Carr-bage has to be included.....as if he's worthy....

What a crock.

Just as I suspected things would start to play out after the stupid "practices" this week, along with the stupid practice game coming up.

Carr will artificially raise his stock with people around here, and unfortunately probably the Jags brass too as I wonder if they are smart enough to see through the rouse of Carr.

Keep all this in mind

1. Bridgewater played in a pro style, highly structured offense

The biggest surprise to me was Bridgewater outperforming Manziel during blitz and pressure situations.

In a pro offense where he cant run around willy nilly and "improvise"

The margin is even greater than I though

Wow, good stuff for sure. Bridgewater and Bortles definitely the top two based on these charts if I'm reading them right.

Much appreciated knarnn.

Good read. Was surprised that Manziel under pressure and blitz measures were not higher. I gained more respect for Bortles after seeing the charts, and further cemented my desire for Bridgewater of the 4.

There was a quote in one of the interviews I just listened to that Bridgewater completed 80% of his passes vs the blitz..... :woot:

This is selling me a little on Bortles.  Though I still really like Bridgewater.  I'm hoping we do come away with one of them if they're going to be good.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Bortles is not a great player. He's a good one. So, unless you are getting him at proper value, i.e. outside of the top 10, then I don't want him.

Lifted straight out of one of my posts.  If you're going to plagiarize, at least list the source.

Actually, I am refering to a quote from Greg Cosell in an interview I just listened to minutes ago, so if I am plagiarizing, then so are you.

Looking at those figures of Carr under pressure he appears to be the second coming of Gabbert. Looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane.
