Reaching again? Feel free to name the other things cause that was a legit question.

Quote:That's not crazy.  In fact, I like it more the more I think about it.

It's been a long, long time since our defense was respected.  Garrard showed us what we can get with a well rounded team and solid QB play.  That's not to say we settle for it, but you can't throw all your resources/spend all your energy fixing only one or two spots on a team with so many holes as ours.

Having a defense that causes problems for the opposition makes things much easier on the offense no matter what caliber QB we land.  Since whether or not we find "the guy", we've still got a lot left to build on both sides of the ball that we don't have yet.

Garrard absolutely showed us what a top defense and a top rushing offense can do with solid QB play:

1. That it cannot win the division against an elite QB

2. That it is a one-and-done team in the playoffs

3. That it is not sustainable success

You could say the same thing about the Indianapolis Colts with Peyton Manning or Andrew Luck.

Lost eight times in the wild card and/or divisional round with Peyton Manning. Luck has bowed out in the wild card/divisional round twice so far.

A chump like Trent Dilfer is proof a quarterback is NOT a priority to winning a Super Bowl.

How many other chumps won a superbowl?

Keep in mind Eli and Flacco both played great in the post season.

Why not just tell me what you want me to think?

Elway will tell you himself, he never would have won a Super Bowl if Shanahan hadn't walked up to him and asked him to think twice about retiring.

When we punked him in the 1996 playoffs, Elway was ready to quit. Retire. No Super Bowl victory.

Shanahan put it plain and simple. All he needed was a guy to hand the ball off and throw for a first down once in a while. He thought Elway was pretty good at both.

The rest is history.

And was it interesting to read what Elway had to say recently...

I was glad late in the game, even after the third-and-17, we were able to throw the ball and get some more first downs. Championships aren't given to you, you've got to go win it

Bill Parcell's Three Super Bowl Things

1. Great play from the quarterback. The quarterback doesn't have to be great, just play great.

2. Run the football. Run to control the clock and keep the opposing QB on the bench.

3. Play solid defense. Tackle. Cover. Create turnovers, etc.

I think you missed "that's not to say we settle for it."

So, there.  I said it again.  We're allowed to pick a QB, with any pick of the draft, in any draft we like.  Not just first round this year.  That shouldn't be a newsflash but perhaps it needs to be.

and who did manning lose to again? Another elite QB perhaps? You are thick.
If that RV sales place wants Tebow in Jax bad enough to take out a billboard saying as much.....they should just HIRE him.

Khan's got Pompeii on the payroll, too?  Sweet!

I really look forward to another productive offseason.

From that article:

Quote:• Teams looking for pass-rush help are checking out Jason Babin, who is expected to be cut by the Jaguars. Front-office men say at 33, Babin has declined a little athletically, but he still has pass-rush skills and could at least be an effective situational pass-rusher. Babin had 7.5 sacks in 2013, but is just two years removed from an 18-sack season in Philadelphia.

Not a shocker but interesting to see other teams expectations nonetheless. It looks like LEO will be a high priority this offseason if we cut Babin.

The Jags would be stupid to just outright cut Babin.....so I guess it might happen.

If another team wants Babin make them trade for him, otherwise, just keep him ourselves.

U honestly believe that would be the result if they swapped rosters? Really?

1st of all, I doubt Kelly would have needed to go into the season before he jettisoned one or both of Gabbert/ Henne. So, no, the rosters wouldn't likely have been identical.

That said, I've been over this before - Kelly without a doubt would have gotten more from this roster than Gus did. Doesn't mean Gus is terrible, but Chip Kelly is on another level coaching wise than Gus.
