Quote:Mark Brunell deserves this and would argue it until you're blue in the face. He has given back to Jacksonville to this very day through football and through his lead the ball began rolling for this franchise. The first real QB for this franchise deserves to be honored. He was behind the wheel in the retirement game of Dan Marino and Jimmy Johnson, he lead our team in arguably the biggest upset in franchise history against the Broncos. He made us believe in this franchise and anything was possible. Congrats, MARK. and none of the above = "elite". You're allowing emotion to enter into the process and the criteria for the Pride shouldn't be determined by that.
Quote:Pretty sure Brunell has a ring and is easily the best QB we've ever had Ring for what?....and "best QB we've ever had" doesn't necessarily equate to deserving of the Pride. Kevin Hardy & Daryl Smith are arguably our best LB....do either of them deserve to be inducted? No. Donovin Darius is our best Safety....does he deserve induction?.... How about Meester....he's been our best Center... and on and on... Quote:the criteria for the Pride shouldn't be determined by that. According to who?
On Wisconsin.
Quote:.....so who's next?...Kevin Hardy?....Mike Hollis??.....Jeff Lageman???.....hey how about Deon Grant while were at it, then?Lol!! Deon Grant...lol. That was funny I must admit. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:the criteria for the Pride shouldn't be determined by that. Really now? Because you say so? I guess you better rush down there and let them know about this injustice.
Quote:His stats in Jax were honestly never very good. I just looked them up again and they were as average as I thought. I think he's one of the more overrated players of this generation. Frankly, I don't think he was even a very good player. In fact I think he was a much better leader than player, and he wasn't really all that talented. He only even threw for more than 20 TDs twice as a Jag. He also threw 20 INTs in a season. Thanks. I know that I'm correct on this, and I know there are those out there who can also see it, like yourself. Brunell = very good player and one of my fav's of the past, and I appreciate his efforts of late regarding supporting the team and all.... None of that equates to him deserving of being inducted into the Pride. The Pride is supposed to be for the Jags players who were truly elite at their positions and maintained that over a period of time, and/ or illustrating; being a focal point of a high level of success for a long time as a Jaguar. When theres not even a superbowl as the apex, not seeing how Brunell fits either case.
Quote:I'm with TMD I like Brunnell my favorite QB to date but at this point we have 4 people from an era that produced no Super Bowls and only 2 3 playoff births The only three that should be in the ring are Boselli, Taylor and Smith if he weren't a loser. Quote:The only three that should be in the ring are Boselli, Taylor and Smith... Totally agree. Quote:The only three that should be in the ring are Boselli, Taylor and Smith if he weren't a loser.Put the off field crap to the side. Smith should be in b4 Mark. I agree with that.
I will say congratulations to Mark. I was too young to remember seeing him play live with my own eyes but I have to say I agree with TMD on this one. Maybe not quite how he's said it but the principle is the same. Mark was a good quarterback in his time in Jacksonville and a part of the beginnings of the franchise but I would not consider him an elite level player. He had a successful career. Being a part of a successful team shouldn't be enough to get you into the Pride. It should be exclusive to elite level players. Fred Taylor, Boselli, and an argument could be made for Jimmy Smith. Those are the only three I would put in there.
I'm not "sweating" the decision and I'm happy for Mark. He's done a lot for the franchise and I appreciate that from him. So again congratulations Mark, enjoy your moment! Too bad it had to happen during such a rough season. Here's to better times ahead.
We should ask him if he wants his old job back. I would take grandpa brunel over gabbs

Quote:Backing up Brees IIRC Right...but that certainly shouldn't have any impact pertaining to his credentials as a Jaguar for the Pride induction. Again....what are we trying to aspire to be - the Carolina Panthers here??? The whole thing reaks of a desperate reach for "tradition" ala the Sam Mills statue in Carolina...
I too agree with TMD on this. Mark was our best QB, and is a class act off the field, but he was just an average QB. Mark had a solid team around him. Rob Johnson looked so good as Jags QB in those days that he garnered us a 1st round pick. Even Jonathan Quinn won a game with the '99 Jags.
The Pride should be reserved for HOF and close to HOF players. So far that's Boselli, Taylor, and Jimmy Smith. "Why should I give information to you when all you want to do is find something wrong with it?"
