I would say so. The MVP was Ford, a defensive player. Another D-lineman also had a pair of sacks. (The name escapes me) There were a few nice offensive plays, but the defenses shined much more.

You dont pick a guy based on the senior bowl week, you pick them based on body of work, combine, Sr. bowl, workouts and everything, if he grades out after that to be your guy at 3 then you draft him, David Caldwell wont be drafting based on mock drafts.

That is what I don't understand.  I think Ford could end up being the best player in this draft if Clowney doesn't pan out.  He might have the quickest first step I have ever seen.

You cant fall in love with a guy and just pick him, Caldwell is not gonna pick Ford at 3 if every team has him graded as a late 1st early 2nd, thats just bad drafting, the draft is about value, you lose too much value passing on better players just to draft a guy you like but nobody else is thinking about drafting anytime in the next 20 picks

No, like the Bruce Irving pick. The Jr Amateur Draftnik community LOL'd for days when Seattle drafted him in the 1st round. Turned out to be a pretty good pick.


I understand value as it pertains to the draft, but I also understand that each team and GM will have grades on players independent of the rest of the league.


You don't pass on the player you have rated highest just because everyone else has him ranked lower. That's just dumb.

I have been on the Dee Ford bandwagon for a while now.  I knew he was going to destroy the competition at the Senior Bowl.  I think a few years down the road people are going to be saying...how did this guy fall to the late first round.
