Lovin what I saw from him today. Will have to check his other games as far as LEO goes, it's been between Mack or Barr. Ford is now in the discussion and may be able to leapfrog them. If Teddy isn't there at 3, we need to get our LEO.
As of today, I am not seeing ANY mocks that have Ford going in the first round. That could change in the next few days or after the combine. If he doesn't move, we might be able to trade down a bit and still get Mack plus get Ford in the top of the 2nd. Maybe get Garoppolo or Mett in the 3rd. Think maybe we could get a pass rush on Luck then.

I heard some people from the Senior Bowl thread speculating that he might go top 10 overall and thats not happening.

I heard some people from the Senior Bowl thread speculating that he might go top 10 overall and thats not happening. That's why I keep on bring up Bruce Irvin. As a prospect he's very similar to Ford including a late rise in draft stock. The draftnicks were laughing when Seattle took him at 15 thinking he was a reach. And they were obviously wrong.

Were they obviously wrong though?
Everyone claims Bruce Irvin has been a great player for Seattle - but I think the team's success is being linked to him being great, when in reality he hasn't done squat this year. He had a good rookie year, but has been disappointing this year. It's been kept quiet however because it's a non-story as Seattle continues winning. I think drafting Bruce Irvin again (this year) with the same results that he's given his team would be a mistake. I mean, he's been pretty good overall... but the jury is still out on him. If he has another year like 2013 next year, I think many people will start scratching their heads about him. Also, Bruce Irvin is way more athletic than Ford. Ford is a good athlete, but Irvin was an absolute freak. He ran the 40 in 4.41 seconds at 245 lbs.... which is basically the reason he jumped up to #15 overall.

The only reason people didnt have Irvin going first round is because of character concerns, a troubled past, and he got arrested. He went right about where he should have if the team over looked those and Seattle did. He didnt just shoot up boards, if anything he fell down draft boards.
I think Ford is now the 4th DE/OLB prospect.

This is my draft goal. Trade back to Oakland, get their 2nd rounder lol (I know this probably won't happen, but I can hope haha). Pick Sammy Watkins. Take Dee Ford with Oakland 2nd rounder, then take Tre Mason with our 2nd rounder. Take a Guard or Center with 3rd and take A. Murray with 4th and Goppolopigus lol with other 4th or 5th (doubt he's there). Dee Ford was nasty the whole day. Got pushed out a few times, but his jump off the line is sick!!
Let's Get Em!!!! Go Jags!
Quote:I think Ford is now the 4th DE/OLB prospect. I remember reading another post that said Clowney is strictly a 4-3 guy and would be a terrible Leo.
All of a sudden Dee Ford has worked his way up to 18th overall prospect on CBS. I was just on there the other day and he was 58th

What reasoning did the poster give as to why he'd be a terrible LEO? Curious to know. From what I've been reading and how I see him play, freakishly quick, strong, and athletic, he'd fit in at any DE spot, IMO. We show less advertisements to registered users. But if at all possible, I would rather get a quarterback at #3 and Dee Ford at #39. Quote:All of a sudden Dee Ford has worked his way up to 18th overall prospect on CBS. Quote:CBS is usually late in their projections and sometimes those rankings leave you scratching your head.Yeah I have noticed they are late lots of times Quote:I remember reading another post that said Clowney is strictly a 4-3 guy and would be a terrible Leo. He doesn't have to play LEO on every down to be effective. Clowney is good enough that you could line him up anywhere and he will be disruptive. Moving him around would be in the team's best interest anyway to take advantage of mismatches. Alfie's opinion: Quote:He's not a traditional LEO in the Jaguars defensive front, but he can play all over the line. Look to how the Seattle Seahawks use Michael Bennett, inside and out, and that's how the Jaguars could utilize Clowney as an every down player. http://www.bigcatcountry.com/2014/1/23/5337816/jadeveon-clowney-nfl-draft-profile-2014
