Could Bridgewater be...?

He might do the same thing when his NFL rookie contract is up!

Look at it another way. If the jags were a college team. You knew Gus Bradley was an amazing leader and a great coach, so you committed to his program. Then he got fired and you were stuck on a terrible roster.

He wasn't the only player to decommit from Miami.  And chances are if he went, he wouldn't have been starter as soon as he was with Louisville.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Why is anybody worried about the fact that Teddy Bridgewater had originally committed to Miami? That has absolutely nothing to do with anything he did at Louisville. David Caldwell cares about talent and character, not which school a quarterback goes to.

I think that speaks directly to his character.

The only thing weird here is how obsessed people become with the Jags getting THEIR guy.  I know guys that love Teddy and those that hate him.  Just let it play out and don't marry yourself emotionally to one guy.  Yeesh.

Yep. I'll leave it up to the people who are actually paid to do the evaluations and scouting rather than relying on bits and pieces of information to support someone that I've already decided that I like.....or dislike.

so what does johnny ego's police record say about his character?
If that RV sales place wants Tebow in Jax bad enough to take out a billboard saying as much.....they should just HIRE him.

except most major college hopefuls actually do this.  Its actually one of the biggest reasons top prospect choose certain schools. That and the possibility of quick playing time and being a starter.

Congrats on bringing absolutely nothing to the discussion like most that balk at my opinion.

You're acting like children who refuse to allow an opinion that doesn't align with your own.  Low emotional intelligence, I would assume.

Funny given how many comments I've seen from you... A MODERATOR, where you absolutely contribute NOTHING to a thread (including belittling other posters and claiming that they are "acting like children").

If you're not trolling/baiting, and you really think that a recruit leaving a school because the guy who recruited him and is no longer going to be there makes him a character risk...then I'm afraid you're actually a tier below trolling.

Or you were hired by the owner at a workplace. Before you start, you find out that owner had just sold the business to someone who you've never met. Meanwhile, you get a phone call from another business, and you know their owner WANTS you there.

You still go to the first offer or the 2nd offer?

By the way, Bridgewater's degree is on Sports Administration. Louisville's program for that degree is supposedly tops in the country. Just something to think about...

Man, if you swap the 'pirkster' part of the post, I could sware it was TMD... except TMD likes Bridgewater... Poor form pirk.

Umm, why? The coach is the guy who one would be reporting to and playing for for quite possibly their entire college career. That's one of the most important things for a recruit.

I agree, I went to a job where the Manager who hired me quit 2 weeks after I started. The new Manager came in, didn't like me, and gave me a ton of crap. I ended up leaving after 2.5 months. I think it was not just reasonable, but smart for him to leave. Why stick with someone who never wanted you, and wants their 'own' people?

I hope you're not serious. You think they commit based on the quality of the library? Or the number of Rhodes scholars the school has produced?

Another reason is being allowed to play a certain position. Sometimes only one school is interested in letting a player do what he wants, so he goes to that school.

Because the job market sucks and you have to work somewhere. But I don't want to derail this thread with that topic.

Defensive end Adham Talaat learned the hard way it is important to consider more than just the football coach when picking a school. The UMass coach was fired shortly after he arrived and he felt like the school was a bad fit for him, so he transferred. His story makes me think some players put too much emphasis on liking the coach of a football team when they choose colleges. They go to school primarily for education, not to keep playing 3-5 more years.

Most players who intend to go into the NFL tend to go to school primarily to play football.  Education is a bonus.

Agree.  You commit to the school, to carry a tradition, to build something together.  Miami was his home town school.

He simply hitched a ride and followed a friend after the coach he liked got fired.  I'm not his biggest fan by any means, but Tebow committed to FL and stuck with it.  Didn't matter who was going to be his coach or whether or not he'd start day one.

The greater challenge would have remained dedicated to rebuilding a program, rather than taking the easier route (no QB competition, no on the field competition.)

All I can relate to is my own situation.  Sure, I had a backup plan in case it didn't work out, but I went to my home town school, the school I'd wanted to go to practically my whole life.  I couldn't imagine backing out on a whim.  I all may not mean a hill of beans in the end, but it does show lack of conviction.
