Mike Evans is a BEAST

Well, I just watched him vs LSU and he open almost every play.  Some bad throws by Manziel, two in the endzone and some more down field.  A good blocker too.

Quote:I had Watkins rated as my top WR but reports are Mike Evans will clock in the high 4.4s if not faster. If this is the case he is my number 1 WR.

I wouldn't be so quick to move him up the boards. He may run 4.4 with no pads on a track but looking at his actual game speed he's much slower. Combine that with that fact he's a poor route runner he's going to have a rude awakening in the NFL.

To be fair I think he compares favorably to Vincent Jackson but he's going to need some work his first few years in.

Hmmmm...sounds familiar.

Oh yeah, they said the exact same things about Alshon Jeffery two years ago.

Sure did. I mean who didn't know Jeffery wasn't going to go on to be a stud? The draft/scouting process has become way to much of a crap shoot for my liking.

Worried about When you put a bigger corner on him, he can't get open..Ole Miss put a true freshman that only played in one game (against A&M) to cover him. He had one of his worst games and big corners are becoming th norm.

Also sounds like Matt Jones.

Quote:He's a first rounder.

Where in the first round?

I usually don't read mock drafts, but recently I saw one that has Sammy Watkins going to the Rams.

Mid first. Most likely he'll be the second WR off the board.

He was awful in the bowl game against Duke. He's going to have a hard time getting open in the NFL. I can't see him going before Watson or Lee. Watson is the one with beast potential....I wouldn't be disappointed if we got him in the first round.

Don't get me wrong. He has real potential and could end up as a Vincent Jackson clone. But he'll need some work upon entering the league. Route running and working on creating separation at the line being the biggest. He's a big WR and he needs to learn how to use that size to beat the press which he struggled doing in college.
