Mock Draft 4
|
I am assuming Texans are taking a QB, leaving who I believe are the top 2 players in this draft, Clowney and Watkins. I would be happy with either, but for this mock I am going to assume the Rams think Clowney is too good to pass up as Jeff Fisher loves a competent D-line, also they can probably grab a top rated wide out with their second pick in the 1st round. This leaves us with Sammy Watkins.
1. Sammy Watkins - WR 2. Trent Murphy - DE 3. Stanley Jean - Baptiste - CB 4. Arthur Lynch - TE 4. Keith McGill - CB 5. Aaron Murray - QB 5. Wesley Johnson - OG 5. De'Anthony Thomas - RB 6. Brent Urban - DE/DT 7. Jonathan Dowling - S We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
after Baptiste's showing at the senior bowl, and if he has a good showing at the combine he'll probably move himself up into the early 2nd round considering a lot of teams need corner/safety help this year, and like they were saying he can play both. Start him at corner and if it doesn't work move him to safety. I also really think that Murray will fall further than the 5th. I'd be willing to say we could get him with the 6th or at the most the last 5th

Not addressing our needs. Id like those corners and Watkins but we cant do both. We need two guys for the interior line. We spent too many picks in last years draft to go ahead and spend 3 more.

Sammy is great, sure. No one argues that. But this WR class is all time good top to bottom, whereas pass rusher dries up real quick. If we don't take QB I think one of the 3 great pass rusher prospects is the only wise move. We will get a much better WR later in the draft than we will a pass rusher if we wait.
If we can't get Clowney, IMO Sammy would make our receiving corps top 10 I'm the league, and probably top 5 with a healthy Shorts and a sober Blackmon.....

Depends on who we get in FA, I think we could sign a better pass rusher than Mack, but I doubt we would find a better receiver than Watkins, based on who is available. He's very much like Blackmon, would be a fringe first rounder had LaQuon Treadwell not been some a freshman phenomenon. Moncrief has abused several high picked SEC DBs

I would not be surprised if Dave picks Sammy if his favorite QB is off the board. I see it as a district possibity now that it looks like we might have both Henne and Gabbert (God forbid)
I don't think we will be stuck with Henne and Gabbert. I am sure we draft or sign a QB who will compete for the starting job, and probably win it from either of them. But if not at least we will have weapons.
