Jets vs Jags and MNF Observations

Goes to show you the importance of coaching. If Bill had the D talent we had in 2017, he would have won a super bowl by doing nothing but kneeling down and punting on offense so the defense could get back on the field.

Todd WARSH would have the current Patriots D as a middle of the pack defense, at best.

Could the Jags try a Bear 52 front this weekend to minimize the effect of new guys at linebacker?

I won't argue that Belicheck isn't a good coach, but the Patriots have spent a ton of their top picks on defense the past few years, and it's finally paying off.  They have good players.  It's not all scheme, and it's a damn good defense.

On topic, the Jags better take the Jets seriously.  They've got running game and will hit us in the mouth when they're on D.  And Darnold's not that bad.

So does the airing of darnold's I'm seeing ghosts comments help or hurt us Sunday. I got to kind of think he will be super motivated to get that performance in his past. The other line of thought is his head is a mess right now. What say ye.

Maybe that will help our defense step up and get off on the right foot.

One thing I will say, you don't notice it day in and day out, how much you actually use your big toe until you injure it. If we collapse that pocket, he may end up curling into a fetal ball rather than attempting to scramble.

What else is going to say???
It my be ok now, and I saw a media vid where he's practicing in virtual reality...
But just wait until the real time of game action and using his feet and the "ghosts" are real.
That will be the reality check.
Because Jaguars is our mantra  Wallbash

It doesn't phase us. The gameplan is the same whether he admitted to getting rattled or not.  The gameplan should be to limit Bell, and put Sammy on his hind end. I don't care if he sees ghosts, stars, or Jacksonville skyline from that perspective.

There’s something about this game that’s not jiving with me.

Jets still angry about last season. They just got embarrassed on national TV. Jags didn’t play their best against potentially the worst team in the NFL and they only scored one offensive TD in that game.

I’m not saying the Jags are gonna lose but I think this game is really close.

Given the Jags' current LB situation and the loss of their best run stopper up front, the jets probably will put some points on the board.

Jags will need to keep up offensively on the scoreboard IMO. Jets will pressure so we'll need to counter with quick hit passes, screen game, and plenty of Fournette.

I know what you mean. I cant tell if they are going to be broken or looking to punch someone in the mouth.

I think back to that game we had against them in 2017 too. That was in New York and we were the better team but we just kept giving up big plays. They had a long run where the RB went down and wasnt touched and Lee blew a punt return. We ended up finding a way to lose that one but I think we should win this one.

Well maybe...

Pats play more man coverage than any team in the league.
In 2018 they ran man 56% of the time. But were ranked 24th against the pass.

They are still at close to 50 this year from what I heard but their pass rush has gotten better than last years.
And they've played softest schedule so far, I think.

Wash catches a lot of flack and for good reason, but most teams don't run man more than 25-30% of the time.

Yeah... everyone thought Vikes would roll last night.
It was a fairly close game because the bad teams defense will keep em in it.

Same thing here. And Skins lost Keenum at half...
Darnold>Haskins

I think Jets D keeps it super close. Too close for fans comfort.
24-17 ish

Exactly. Washington's D played well last night, they kept giving the O a shot and that's all you need at times.
Going into the 4th Q last week it was 10-9 to the Bengals so hopefully we can put some points up early as I think us playing from behind works in the Jets favor. I'm hoping as well the 3 interceptions is a sign we've turned the corner with those.

The fact that guys are still talking about last years game and "running up the score" is laughable.

It does explain why Darnold kept throwing off his back foot, though.

As long as they don't underestimate the fact that the Jets will come to town a desperate team I believe we should win this comfortably. I think Gardner will be motivated by another rookie of the week nomination and the fact that some question it. I think Yan will be motivated by all the talk about him and a contract this week. Hopefully Miles will be super focused knowing he has to make up for 2 starters out. The team as a whole should feel they are the better team and just need to show it.
