Norwell is the worst FA in Jaguars history

It's definitely what I'm getting from it.  QB, RB, RT, LT, TE2, TE3, -- one guy missing a block, not seeing a hole, not seeing an open receiver.  They can all kill drives or turn TDs into FGs.

Which is really too bad, because when you can pin all the problems on one high-priced player, then you have "the solution" to "the problem."  Cut that one guy, save a whole ton of money, replace him with a better player, and it's all fixed.

But if every bad play involves a different player screwing up, that's a much harder problem to fix.

Thank you!! This was my vote. Replaced Peterson for a year when he was injured in Minnesota, looked good, people were talking he may replace Peterson, comes to us and oh my God was he bad. When he was healthy.

Also remember how excited I was when we got Douglas from Eagles. What a bust.

It seems many fans, myself included, see the one or two bad plays and immediately cue the hate.
Last season Norwell was marred by injuries, iirc, this season we're piling on when maybe not necessary.

This season it seems the bigger issues have been the rookie at RT and Cam in spots.
Although Norwell definitely gets blown up a time or two every game, I'm willing to bet there aren't many perfect games from any OL guys.

Unfortunately, when you play OL and block well for 60 plays, but on 3 other plays you give up sacks, people are going to focus on the 3 bad plays and not the 60 good ones. Fair or not.

I think Oline play league wise has been in decline for a while. You think back and LT's were usually your 2nd highest salary. Now we see quite a turnover for teams trying younger guys. The thing for me, football takes precise coordination, receivers hitting Mark's on time that kind of thing but I dont know if any unit has to work as in sync as an Oline.

5 guys that have to work in unison at all times. They have to learn the playbook and protection schemes but then things like pulling, getting 2nd level blocks and if your working around player skill limitations then it can be really tough.

Plus the lack of padded reps hurts Olines early on build a unit and communication. I think that's a big part of the QB injuries early this season.

Aaron Ross....man that dude was a waste. Mackenzy Bernadeu: OT we signed from the Cowboys that was supposedly a steal and we penciled him in as a starter....and he got cut before the season began.

I think we have documented in this thread that Norwell is not even in the top 10 worst free agents we have signed.

Norwell's case would be the sheer size of the contract he got. We have him a top 5 overall lineman deal, not just top 5 guard deal. Some of the others got large deals, but nothing like Norwell's.

I'm interested in how Norwell fares vs the jets and then the tinhorns pass rushers in week nine.

If he plays similar to how he did vs the bungles, then maybe he's settling into a groove. That would be nice.

I sincerely hope the F.O. looks to give him competition (if not replace him outright) via the 2020 draft though.
For the cap number if nothing else.
