CVS should carry only Newman's Own products. All of their post tax profits go to charity. There we go, that'll solve it.

No. They were "go to a dollar store", "they knew the risk", and continuing to call the move half hearted.

Dollar stores, and gas stations sell cigarettes right????  :teehee:  It's not the end of the world if CVS completely revise their retail model. Customers can go elsewhere for their cigs and unhealthy snacks.

 

As I said earlier in this thread, I commend CVS for making the move and will be curious to see if Walgreens follow suit ,but to those people shedding tears about their profit margins being cut after the removal of their cigarettes, the corporate team knew the risk already going in and probably already had a plan in place ie the implematation of the minute clinics.

No one on this thread has shed tears about CVS losing money, they pointed out that the decision to make was probably not easy due to that. In the end, as CVS has stated, it was the right move based on where they wanted to go.

With CVS ending the sales of Tobacco and cigarette products customers who have medical prescriptions with CVS can still go to gas stations, and dollar stores if they wish to purchase the products CVS is no longer selling come October 1. CVS is revising their business model to better align with their mission which is to not conflict their pharmacy retail, with tobacco retail thus to achieve the maxium in providing pharmacy health care, they took the measures to eliminate the sales of tobacco and cigarette products.

I would imagine that this decision is not going over well with stock holders. 2 billion a year is a lot of money to lose. It's probably not very likely the move gains you any customers or allows you to make up the loss in profit elsewhere.

CVS filling prescriptions for people who may go down the road for cigarettes has nothing to do with CVS. They have no control over what other companies are doing.

There is nothing about smoking that is good for you...even with moderation.


You can eat junk food and sugary drinks in moderation and it won't affect you what so ever.



And to use the "it effects me" line in the ER with no insurance...that can be used for just about EVERYTHING!

Some people can eat snacks/drinks in moderation, but the MAJORITY of obese people dont and a good chunk end up having health problems.
