If Shad Khan retains Doug Marrone and Dave Caldwell despite their record

#61

I'm fine with keeping Caldwell and Marrone. Mediocrity is fun. Playoffs are over-rated.

One more bad year and it would be interesting in 2021. Throwing a huge and highly too early hypothetical out there but. . .

Would anybody be opposed of seeing a Dabo Swinney & Trevor Lawrence combination in Jacksonville in 2021?

Especially if they beat LSU for the National Championship? Would be an interesting scenario. Of course this team would have to finish god awful and more than likely fire Marrone well before November.

But just curious what everyone thinks of that. College coaching names are starting to trend more in the NFL ranks again with Kingsburry last year and now Meyer, Riley and Rhule's names being tossed out there.

Don't know if Dabo would leave the college ranks - and even if he did, it would take a massive arm and a leg to pry him away.

Lawrence, however, is the absolute TRUTH and I have been touting that since he arrived at Clemson.

We'd have to be the worst team with the first pick or basically give up the farm (which might be worth it).

Depends on who is holding that 1st pick.

I hope we land him. Unless Minshew magically leads us to the promise land and wins it all.

But I agree. I really like that kid. He just gets it done. Made a mistake passing on Watson.

Lawrence will be another superstar in the NFL you can build around. If they end up beating Burrow and the LSU Tigers he's only making his case stronger.

Dabo isn't a coach, he is a CEO. He cannot teach X and Os. Without his coordinators staying, he gets fired. He almost got fired before he found his current coordinators. He isn't leaving college.

Interesting. I'll admit I don't really keep up with the in's and out's of college football. He keeps producing pretty damn good players from his program.

So doesn’t that make him a great coach?

He has the ability to find great coordinators? Most great coaches are great at finding great people.

College yes, but pro coaches are generally X and O guys that have successful experience working as coordinators.

He also wasn't that successful to start, so it took some time to find the right coaches.

He is great for college, but would be a failure in the NFL.

As much as I love football and the recruiting side of CFB, I don't give a flying [BLEEP] how he played in Twin Lakes Middle School.

You sound good as the town jester though! Also, if you wanna play hardball... How did that recruit ranking go for Russel Sheppard, Dayne Christ, Terrell Pryor, Matt Barkley, etc?

He was ready to play immediately and made a substantial positive impact right from the get-go.

What is the application process anyway? I'll apply. I promise to reach back to the forum before any personnel decision is made. I can promise you the result would be better based off that business model.

Thake a chimp,  Take the last 8 #1 top 10 picks in those draft.  Have the chimp pick at random.....better result!

Cool it, Tony.  While you're correct that he doesn't technically have to tell fans anything, fans deserve some honesty out of this franchise if they expect the fans to continue to spend their money on the product.  Walking around like you're too important to remember the people who support your brand typically spells disaster.

Clearly a chimp is smarter than Dave because half his top 10 picks play for other teams now.
