Quote:His running habits may be concerning, but there's no doubt he's one of the best playmakers in the draft.Tebow was an awesome playmaker at florida, Vick was marvelous at VT RG3 was an hellacious playmaker at Baylor We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
He is THEE best playmaker in the draft. For whatever it's worth, Gus name dropped 2 quarterbacks on last night's radio show.
Bridgewater and Manziel.......when asked about who impressed him in the senior bowl......Dee and Carr
Quote:He is THEE best playmaker in the draft. Quote:Tebow was an awesome playmaker at florida People really need to stop bringing up Tebow. The guy was a great college player, who should have never sniffed the first round. The guy made Byron Leftwhich look like he had Dan Marino type release. Tebow shouldn't even be allowed in arguments. Vick was marvelous in the NFL as well as at VT.

Quote:What I am saying is, playmaking in college has very little bearing on pro success He talked about Bridgewater being more of a traditional pocket passer and Manziel being able to extend the plays and how Fisch's system could incorporate either because of his system's flexibility.
Talent can only take you so far as a QB. You guys are ready to spend a first round pick on a kid who doesn't have the right frame of mind for a starting NFL qb. He let his success get to his head after one year of college football. Well let's give him millions and put cameras on his every move .
Give me the QB who works as hard behind the scene as he does on the field. Do you see Teddy out there trying to build his "brand"? Look at Stafford, he probably has one of the best NFL arms and can make any throw. He just lacks the mental game. He makes way too many mistakes and forces too many balls. Manziel does all that and he definitely doesn't have Staffords arm. You think Manziel running around in circles and heaving it up to Blackmon will work ? No... It'll be a turnover
Quote:He talked about Bridgewater being more of a traditional pocket passer and Manziel being able to extend the plays and how Fisch's system could incorporate either because of his system's flexibility.I can deal with Manziel if he feels that he can work, I will be scared though Quote:His running habits may be concerning, but there's no doubt he's one of the best playmakers in the draft.I mean, his mechanics on that throw look like it's a designed roll out throw...yet he's sitting in a perfect pocket... Manziel may admittedly not have the best form......but his results speak for themselves. That is partially due to his high drive and competitiveness. After the last Alabama game, Saben said he has not seen a better competitor in all of his 40 years.
Flutie 2.0.
If that RV sales place wants Tebow in Jax bad enough to take out a billboard saying as much.....they should just HIRE him.
Quote:As I've said before, from scouting him eextensively, he has a ton of upside, possibly top 5 imo. However if his skill set doesn't translate, he will bust quickly. Teddy is safer, not as much upside. If Caldwell likes him and thinks he translates, grab him quick. If not, stay far far away. Why doesn't he have more upside? Teddy can be the best qb in the league. Any qb, if they have sufficient tools, can. So why doesn't teddy have that upside? Quote:Why doesn't he have more upside? Teddy can be the best qb in the league. Any qb, if they have sufficient tools, can. So why doesn't teddy have that upside? Teddy isn't the fastest, isn't the biggest, nor does he have the strongest arm. He has very, very good ratings in all of these areas, though. But to be the BEST QB in the league, you need to have incredible physical tools. Think Rodgers' quality arm-strength. When we talk about upside for QBs, or any position, it's defined by the limits of their physical potential. Of course, sometimes you'll have a QB who can be the exception to that rule, and I do think Teddy could be that guy, but if you're going by super-traditional scouting philosophy, QB's who don't have great measurables will never be in the top 5. Of course, super-traditional scouting philosophy had Wilson selected in the third round, so you see how far that can get you.

Quote:Drew Brees - the aforementioned exception to the rule. Manning doesn't have insane tools either. Is he an exception too? If you can make every throw then you have the tools to be the best. That's just how it is. All I care about is the likelihood a certain player reaches that potential. Quote:Manning doesn't have insane tools either. Is he an exception too? If you can make every throw then you have the tools to be the best. That's just how it is.At the start of his career, Manning certainly had the tools. Look, man. I REALLY like Teddy. I hope we get him, I think his floor is top 10 QB and his ceiling is top 3. My main thing is that he has to check out in the interview process, that's all.

Quote:At the start of his career, Manning certainly had the tools. That's the point. He had sufficient tools just like teddy, blake, and Manziel. They all can be the best qb in the league but the likelihood for each player is different. There isn't one style that has more upside than another. This isn't about teddy. This is strictly about qbs and saying one has a higher ceiling because of a different skillset. Quote:That's the point. He had sufficient tools just like teddy, blake, and Manziel. They all can be the best qb in the league but the likelihood for each player is different. There isn't one style that has more upside than another. You're saying two different things, here. You're correct in saying that style doesn't determine upside, but I strongly disagree with your view that skillset doesn't determine upside. If you're a 4.9 40, 5.6 QB who can't throw more than ten yards downfield, your upside is going to be much more limited than that of a 4.4, 6'4 Adonis who can throw to the endzone from anywhere on the field.

Not really. The style someone plays with is determined by skillset. If that was confusing I apologize. You need sufficient tools. A player who can't throw 10 yards doesn't have sufficient tools. |
