Uche To Center?...and Other Moves....
|
I remember a few years back JDR and company was experimenting with Uche at center to possibly take over the position once Meester retired. Looking at our line, center and guard seem to be the most suspect positions and Meester is one of the biggest culprits. Should we make a move to sit Meester, slide Uche to center (hoping he'll be an upgrade over Meester and perform better than he was at RG), and insert either Brewster or Pastor at guard or even flip flop Rackely to the right side and move Brewster/Pastor to LG? If not what suggestions would you make to fix the line this season?

Brewster needs to start.
THERE IS A SKELETON INSIDE OF YOU.
RIGHT NOW. THIS IS NOT A JOKE.
I don't see help on the way for this year....
Gonna have to just bite the bullet and wait it out. As for next year, I'd really like to see Alex Mack signed as a FA to take over for Meester. Instead of moving Uche to Center, they should just move him to the hell outta here, along with the remaining interior linemen, They are all garbage. The Jags need to invest heavily in OG/ C in the draft/ free agency in 2014.
Last weeks game the protection was manageable. It was Happy Feet seeing ghost that was the problem, if they can hold the line at least as good as last week we can get through the season. They start playing like the first 3 weeks, pull Meester and Uche play Brewster and Pastor see what happens.
Pass protection may have been "manageable" at times, but whomever is in charge of calling protection/blitz audibles (likely Meester/Gabbert) is doing an absolutely horrible job. Also, the run blocking was absolutely horrendous.

Leave the 3 OL turnstiles in all season so the 2 losers at QB get hammered all the way to 0-16, then follow the TMD plan above and re-sign Monroe too.

The interior line probably had their best game of the season Sunday. While not a good game it was better tha the first three. You can block well, but if teh QB has happy feet and runs scared there is little the line can do to help. Is the line free of blame? No..but Gabbert certainly made the problems worse.
