NFL.com - Jags GM HOPES signing Ngakoue will be 'relatively' easy

All the boomers/ gen x on here who think social media is meaningless.. maybe in your mind frame it is. In today’s social climate, it’s basically all we have. Think about that before you write off someone’s opinion solely based on the fact that it references said social media.

No we're saying if you are getting triggered by his tweets you don't have to see them. Twitter has several tools to help you with this

Not necessarily that SM is meaningless, but getting shorts in a wad over a post that can be dismissed or deleted once the dust settles isn't worth the effort.

I fully expect him to be open to leaving, at this point. That doesn't mean he's checked out, but he's also not going to give us a hometown discount just because a few followers on SM scream #DTWD at him.

You can’t disregard SM either fellas. Look at Ramsey’s tweets before he was gone. It’s a window into a players thoughts. Might be accurate might be just the moment but shouldn’t be disregarded as nothing.

Who said to disregard it? I said if the tweets make him that annoyed he doesn't have to look at them

Social Media is toxic. It is a resource but do some outside reading and learning. Stuff can drive you crazy.

I agree that it is a window in to thinking. Honestly I give the Jags players credit for keeping the Coughlin debacle quiet. Whatever on Ramsey but yeah he spotlighted it and exposed how the Front Office is a problem.

Nobody likes a cryptic drama queen. It’s a bit difficult to ignore especially when they are quoted here to discuss.

This day in age I think everyone understands one can be held accountable for social media posts.

I feel like im talking to a wall here. If he upsets you guys that much you can just block him on Twitter and avoid threads like these where his tweets may be posted.

Yannicks isn't to prevent you from being annoyed. If you choose to get annoyed over someone trolling and baiting that's on you

Pay him what?

What hes earned and is deserved.

Dee Ford got 5 years, $85m with $33.5m guaranteed and an average of $17.1m per season.

Trey Flowers got 5 years, $90m with $56m guaranteed and an average of $18m per season.

Ngakoue is without a doubt a better player than both of them.

Frank Clark got 5 years, $104m with $62.3m guaranteed and an average of $20.8m per season.

DeMarcus Lawrence got 5 years, $105m with $65m guaranteed and an average of $21m per season.

Ngakoue should be paid right along the lines of Clark and Lawrence.

You make him happy and you have your two young stud pass rushers locked up for the next 4-5 years.

Ngakoue is also 2-4 years younger than all of those guys as well. He's just entering his physical prime and is only going to continue to get better.

And others realize that 95% of 24 year old's social media activities are even more immature than this upstanding young man's - who is merely trying to parlay this situation into a big payday with the only means available to him outside of trusting his agent.

(compared to most athletes who are active on SM, he is really NOT a drama queen)

If you were the GM, how high would you go?  $21M a year?  $22M?  $25M?

5 years, $108, cap hit set up like so many others DC did that have an out after 2 or 3 years.

I don’t know because I don’t follow anyone on twitter or Instagram. The only time I’ve used twitter is when someone posted a link here.

24 is young, but not too young to know when to keep your mouth shut. There is absolutely nothing accomplished posting cryptic messages. You have an agent, his job is to relay your thoughts and feelings to the FO. His job is to negotiate your contract. Social media is for your fans, some of them are just kids who look up to their favorite football player.

I couldn’t imagine how altered my perspective would have been as a kid if Joe Montana was tweeting “ where my money at yo? “ etc. keep it classy is all I’m saying. You will get your money regardless..here or another team.

Social media is for whoever wishes to use it as a platform, including well paid athletes. Just because you feel he should use it a certain way doesn't actually make it so.

There doesn't need to be anything accomplished via his tweets other than his own personal amusement or satisfaction

Not sure I understand the point you’re making? It sounds like you are advocating he can say anything and shouldn’t have repercussions from it?

If you’re famous and you post something on social media, you’re going to be held accountable by your fans, whether that’s positive or negative. The internet, nor this thread in particular work the way you wish it.

It’s my opinion his tweets are annoying. I’m sharing that opinion as others have including yourself. If YOU don’t like that, maybe you can be the one to stop reading this thread. Works both ways bud.

No I'm saying feeling personally upset about it is dumb. You are perfectly entitled to feel like that. Just when you say "social media is for fans", that's not actually based in reality.

The difference being I'm not upset or annoyed reading this thread nor with any tweets I might see.

Don't mistake me saying your opinions are bad with me saying you can't have them
