Jags GM Open to TradeDown-Jeremiah Mocks Watkins to Jags

#21

I'm a little against taking Watkins considering if Blackmon comes back, WR would be a luxury. However, if we trade back to the bottom of the top ten instead of to 5th-6th, I would be okay with Watkins. What do you imagine we could get for moving to 9th-10th? We would have plenty of ammo to trade back in the first with say the Patriots who are known for trading back. Watkins at the tail end of top ten and maybe Trent Murphy or Dee Ford at 29. Could nab Garappolo/Mett/Murray later and then stock up on interior linemen and BAP

You mean WR - not OT, right?

Quote:Jake can play all offensive line positions. He might be a Hall of Famer at left guard, for example.

Not one person has said that his entire career at TAMU. He was a tackle all four seasons. In the NFL, he will be a left tackle. Stop making stuff up.

Watkins...WRs are a dime a dozen. And he isn't even the best at his position.

Quote:I'd be fairly shocked.  Bradfield offers somewhat capable depth behind Joeckel and Pasztor.  They'll address either C or LG in free agency and the remaining of the two in the draft after the first round.

I can't see them taking an OT in the first and I don't think they should.

Does anyone agree with Jeremiah - that they may take Watkins?

If we trade down......yes, but I don't see him falling to far after #3

Sammy Watkins will have the same impact of an AJ Green, Andre Johnson type receiver, special player with game breaking ability.

Watkins will be an elite receiver in the NFL, and those aren't a dime a dozen.

This is what I believe.....he will be special......he's a good kid......and he loves playing the game.....I'm sure Gus will do a "juice" check on him.

Donte Moncrief could be better

Sammy is a really, really good prospect (better than Blackmon as a prospect for example), but he's not Andre/Green/Julio total freak of nature.

Watkins isn't the same kind of WR as those guys are. AJ Green is the best pure WR in the league and Watkins isn't 6'3 230 like Johnson.

Watkins will probably measure in under 6'1 and around 200ish pounds. Now, I don't have any doubts that Sammy has a much better long speed then those two guys though, as he should since he isn't as big.

I see him coming off the board as a late 1st early 2nd.

If he didn't have Bo freakin Wallace throwing to him he would be in the conversation with Watkins

Is going to be a huge steal

Yikes, I like Moncrief as much as anyone, but I'd be pretty shocked if he goes in the top 50 picks. This WR class is just too stacked.

And Moncrief is at the top of the class along witg Watkins/Evans/Lee. High 4.4 40, 6'3 225, how can he not be?

LOL... yes.  Watkins seems to be pretty special.  Maybe it's me or just the one-topic MB this place has become, but IMO there's not near enough talk about him and the rest of what should be a very talented and deep WR class.

Bo isn't bad but he isn't great, I think it had more to do with LaQuon Treadwell, who will be a surefire first rounder granted hr stays healthy

Quote:Even if Clowney is still available they might trade down for the right price. However I don't see it happening unless they get a Julio Jones type offer.

Sorry, you don't trade down with a player of Clowney's caliber sitting right in front of you.

I did not say they should. Anything is possible.
