Is Shad Khan a good owner for the Jaguars?
|
Honestly it is an NFL problem. My overall enjoyment of NFL football is waning and the way it is going with my favorite team doesn't help. For the league, yeah he is a good owner for the fans the product on the field is historically bad. Honestly we luck into some fun QB play and the team did everything they could to suck the life out of the fan base. They don't get it.

"On the field" he has sworn to hire others and trust them to make those decisions since day one. The Caldwell and Bradley hires had his input as did the retention this season of DC/DM. Otherwise he's been hands off. As much as people hate those decisions, he's relegated his involvement in anything involving actual football to a miniscule level.
I keep hearing the "Jags would of moved to LA." Narrative if Khan didn't buy the Jags. Lets get real here.
LA was a very attractive city and there was more than one team fighting to move there. The jags may have attempted to move to L.A. but that is only a maybe. Let's not act like Khan is the savior of the Jaguars. All you could do is speculate what would of happened if Khan did not buy the Jaguars. To play the Devils advocate, there could of been an owner who purchased the team and established a winner here. The reality is the Jags have been a bad football team for a very long time now. 2017 was fools gold and now we are stuck with Lackluster Caldwell and Baloney Maroney again this year. I would argue the only reason is, Khan has these guy's under contract and doesn't want to pay them for doing nothing. The jags have a fancy stadium and a Lousy team. Khans greed pushes 2 games to London and he smiles to tell you it's all for you. Greedy Khan should be his new name. ![]()
GK= greedy Khan. Anyone who thinks this guy gives a crap about Jax is is deluding himself. The profit he could receive just by the the increase in value of this franchise is obscene. Now this is not enough? Gives us a crappy football team for more than a decade and now he wants more??? Not from me guys! Before you slam me for my post count, I live here, and have been a previous season ticket holder for 5 years.

Khan doesn't give a rats are about the city, the team, or the fans. That's my opinion. Keeping Marrone and Caldwell is slap in conventional wisdom; 2020 will be worse than 2019.

If you are from London, sure. I dont know how anyone from Jax could think he's a good owner. How could anyone who ships 1/4th of your home games overseas be considered a good owner?

Terrible owner as far as the team goes. He doesn't care about winning as evident by his record and his disregard for season ticket holders on moving another game to London.

This stuff is bull [BLEEP]. Khan spends when he's asked to, he waits when he's asked to, and he's putting money into this Podunk small minded town while figuring out a creative way to keep his profits increasing and the other owners off his back for being in a small market. He's the perfect owner for this team, the team (including the GM and HC) need to do their part and win some more games.

I wonder if Khan still has his eye on St. Louis and being closer to home? Their XFL team just put 27,500 fans in the seats tonight for a game against Seattle. They still want their football.
We ain't goin to Londontown, boys. We're headed to St. Louey! (02-28-2020, 07:39 PM)jaguarmvp Wrote: I keep hearing the "Jags would of moved to LA." Narrative if Khan didn't buy the Jags. He literally disenfranchised St. Louis and their fans for the time the team resided there with radio silence and was absolutely disillusioned. Agree with you on some of your last points but flsportsgod laid it out nicely. (02-29-2020, 08:56 PM)homebiscuit Wrote: I wonder if Khan still has his eye on St. Louis and being closer to home? I think St. Louis is a possibility if the Jaguars ended up relocating. St. Louis is the 23rd largest media market in the country and they'd probably be willing to build a new stadium to get a relocated team. The logistics would make more sense too. But keep in mind they've already lost two previous teams. Still, I don't think Shad Khan's connections to the area would make a difference, it'd ultimately be about the $$$.
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

Hockey is second. The XFL will do well there because it is more working class and affordable. If the Jaguars moved there it would be a colossal failure. Maybe there would be a new stadium. There were plans for the enterprise sponsored stadium but Stan never wanted to stay there. I don't believe the NFL would let the team move there. I think they would push London above all. See the stupid 3 plus game proposal in the new CBA. The Con *cough Khan clause.

I'm actually from there originally. I left many years ago but I remember that everyone was a baseball or hockey fan and very few people talked about the (then) football Cardinals. When I talk to family still in the area the general reaction to the possibility of an NFL team moving there is usually met with a really big yawn. But as we've seen, fan support is no longer the critical factor in the decision making of where a franchise will end up.
