How Do We Get Rid of Gus Bradley?
|
Not saying we should. I love the coach and I think he's become the face this franchise has desperately needed for years. I think he's gonna be the man leading us to our first Super Bowl win and possibly more. All because of his passion, optimism, energy, and leadership.
That being said, how bad would this team have to be to consider removing him? And for how long? This is just a hypothetical discussion but I just don't see how you can easily remove a man who has brought so much in so little time to our team and our city. What are your thoughts?

There is zero chance that Gus Bradley is gone before the end of year three. Everyone at The Bank knows that that QBs on this roster can't succeed, so they won't possibly make a head coaching move until that have their guy in there for at least 2 seasons.
So basically if we go QB in this draft and then 2-14 in the 2015 season they'll consider a change. Other than that I don't see it happening, Bradley got a lot out of a bunch of rookies, has-beens, never-was, and left overs last year. He'll be a winner with some actual talent around him. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

I wouldn't say there is no way. Even if Ghenne is starting the whole of next year, if we haven't made some progress in performance if not results, his seat could be pretty warm come the end of the season. Quote:I wouldn't say there is no way. If either of them starts all year the offense can't improve because of them and the defense can't improve because they can't keep the offense on the field. It's a true no-win situation to have inept QB play. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

It's a true no-win situation to have inept QB play. I'm one of the biggest proponents of the 'get a QB and everything else will work itself out' school of thought, but to say the rest of the team can't improve without a new QB is just wrong. Stick a RB who isn't done, behind a better OL and a sober Justin Blackmon on the outside, and the offense should be better. Stick a legit pass rusher and a decent corner in, and the defense will be better. We wont will any championships like that, but we will improve. If we dont improve at all in 2 years Gus and Dave could be in trouble. I still don't see it happening. Quote:Just to be different, Bortles.

Agreed, you can absolutely have improvement with all those additions, but I still think you'd only get to the 4-12, 5-11 type season we had this year. Hopefully they'll add the guy and go something like 7-9 this year and get on to the winning. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato
I see this team getting better. This offseason is critical. We need to hit big in free agency and find a QB somewhere in this draft. I cannot conceive of this team looking worse next year than they did this year. And I don't see any scenario where Gus isn't here beyond his current contract. I believe in him. The real pressure is on Caldwell to bring in good players. The fact he and Gus work beside each other gives me hope.
Only a chump boos the home team!

There's no chance he's gone unless Caldwell blows this draft/free agency period and the team regresses. In that case both might be gone. That won't happen.
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

This year he is still safe IMO, soonest he could be fired is if we dont get over 6 wins in 2015.
I think Gus and Dave are kind of tied at the hip and think that they'll both be given 3 seasons.
Jags would have to lose 11 games in 2014 and not break .500 in 2015 for Bradley to be fired, IMO.

This......and I would have to add to that.....2 terrible back to back drafts......and Bad FA signings to boot.....not likely IMO We show less advertisements to registered users. If after the 3 years+ agreed time between Caldwell and Khan to allow a building of a team, there is no significant jump in our team. Then I can see that being a question mark. But not if have another bad year next year. More than likely, it's going to happen (unless we hit the draft and FA out the park). If at year 3 or 4, we don't see significant improvement, then that would be the time to look at it. I don't foresee this happening though.
GO JAGS!
Let's Get Em!!!! Go Jags!

That's why I think they get two seasons once they get the QB. I don't think they can have a 2, 3, or 4 win season the next year after the QB is here. They need to show progress in his second season, I don't think Shad will wait 3 more years. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato
The team would have to be below .500 this year...and not be a play off contender in 2015...I truly think that if we are not a serious play off contender in 2015 both his and Caldwell's seats will be real hot...I just don't see Khan being as patient with below average performance like WW was, especially towards the end.
