I don't see the value in a Safety at 20 imo. Just usually not an impactful position outside of a handful of guys in the league

Love the 1st round. I'm not crazy about Gladney due to his size. At 5'10", I don't see him covering all the taller receivers they will inevitably face. Herndon is only slightly taller than him, so any decent q.b. would have a field-day against this secondary. In your mock, I probably would have traded up and taken Diggs. He will definitely have a learning curve, but he is much taller than Gladney. Dantzler is another intriguing guy who has good height. I would have also taken Winfield in the 3rd over the DT from Ohio State.

To be honest, I'm not high on shorter CB's either. 5'10" is my absolute cutoff for the position. I'd take Gladney any day over Diggs and Dantzler though. Diggs is probably the most overrated CB in the draft. I saw him get torched on several occasions last season and he looks like he lacks the recovery speed once he gets beat. There is no way I'd draft him with the expectations he'd be my #1 CB. He'd be lucky to win a job as a #2 CB. To me, his absolute ceiling is the equivalent of Dre' Kirkpatrick. Dantzler is another "no go" for me. He looks like he's running in cement shoes, IMO and that was confirmed at the Combine. He ran a God awful, 4.64 and 4.65. That's what an average Safety runs. IMO, he needs to be moved to Safety, because he lacks the functional speed to cover #1 receivers on the outside. This is not a deep CB class unfortunately. There is a huge dropoff from Okudah to the next guy, Jaylon Johnson IMO and then there is another sharp dropoff after that. The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of trading up for Okudah. I believe, he's without a doubt, the safest pick in this draft and a guy that will be a future All-Pro. If it's me and Okudah, Brown, Wirfs and Thomas are gone by pick #9, I take the top WR on my board and then I take CB Jaylon Johnson at pick #20, if Kinlaw is gone. Nice draft. Just wonder if you have looked over it and now see potential places where you have messed up? For example, drafting Jefferson over Kenneth Murray?

Still a lot of work and very well done. You should now evaluate it for slips.

Every other NT in the draft are pretty much "one trick ponies." They are either run stuffers only or they can collapse the pocket, but aren't very good when it comes to stopping the run.
I'll defer to you regarding Diggs since you've seen enough of him to feel that strongly. However, I'm sticking with my desire to trade up from 20 and take Henderson. Cornerback is too critical a position to leave in the hands of Herndon and a 5'10" rookie.

My hope for this draft is that the Jaguars acquire 5 players who can start immediately and eventually become a top 10 player at their position. In addition, they will add some other players who will provide depth/special teams help. This may be asking alot of Dave Caldwell since his track record is clearly not very good. However, he has never had this much draft capital to work with. If he can make the most of several trades on draft day, I can envision the Jags adding the players listed below. How would you feel about this group?

1. Trisin Wirfs
2. C.J. Henderson
3. Justin Jefferson (I'm praying they get a 1st rounder for Yannick)
4. Davon Hamilton
5. Edwards-Helaire (replacing Fournette)
6. O.J. Howard (draft day trade for Fournette)
7. Solomon Kindley
8. Evan Weaver
9. Bryce Huff

This could be accomplished if Caldwell makes the most of trades on draft day. The Jags thus add 6 starters (or rotational players) and 3 very good special teams or reserves. Lacking in this plan is an edge rusher to replace Yannick (Huff may actually surprise, however) and a safety to upgrade the roster. This team has too many weaknesses to meet all their needs in 1 off-season, but this can be accomplished during the 2020-21 off-season. The trades of Yannick, Ramsey, Fournette and Foles will enable them to pay at least 1 elite free agent in addition to having 2 high first round draft picks.

Nice draft. Just wonder if you have looked over it and now see potential places where you have messed up? For example, drafting Jefferson over Kenneth Murray?

Still a lot of work and very well done. You should now evaluate it for slips.

Thanks and nope. I like where I have everyone slotted.

Where would Murray play? We just signed Joe Schobert to a big contract and we are still locked into Jack's contract as well. We're pretty well done at LB. We may add some competition at SLB late in the draft, but that's it.

With that said, once you get passed Okudah and Jaylon Johnson, I see the best value for CB's in the 3-5 round range, but given that we lack quality starters at the position, I can't see the Jags waiting until round 3 to draft a CB. If Kinlaw and Johnson are both gone, I trade down into the mid to low 2nd round and hopefully, I pick up a 2021 1st rounder.

I'm pretty entrenched on Hamilton in the 3rd. He's the only other true NT in this draft other than Brown, who can effectively stop the run as well as collapse the pocket and get to the QB.

Personally, I would take CB Jaylon Johnson at #20 over Jefferson, but that's not what I see the Jags doing. Johnson has length (6' tall), he's physical, he can play man to man or off coverage. He has decent speed 4.5/40, excellent technique and he has been productive in college and he's been steadily climbing up draft boards. This is a deep enough WR class that I believe we can find a very good receiver like Chase Claypool, Michael Pittman or Tee Higgins in round 2. I'd take any of those guys to play opposite D.J. Chark.

I wouldn't count on getting a 1st rounder for Yannick in this draft, nor do I want one. I want that first rounder to come in the 2021 draft. I got my eye on a couple guys named Trevor Lawrence and Penei Sewell.

I'm not sold on Henderson as a first rounder. He's good in coverage, but plays pretty undisciplined and he is a very sloppy tackler. He needs to refine his technique. If I had any confidence in this coaching staff, that I believed they could help him get better I might be convinced that he could improve, but I don't. Wash has no clue how to adapt to anything, so whatever faults these rookies have coming in, that's what their gonna show in the NFL. I also don't believe we'll get a first round pick in this draft for Ngakoue. I believe we deal him for a 2021 pick.

I'm assuming you get Jefferson at #20 and you're trading Ngakoue for a pick somewhere between #10 and #20?

Love Hamilton. I like Edwards-Helaire. I don't think we're gonna get that much for Fournette. I think we get a 5th or 6th rounder for him, at best. Veteran RB's don't have the value they used to. No one wants to pay them and Fournette has a bit of a negative reputation.

Kindley is a very good OG, but I prefer interior O-Linemen who have experience playing OT as well. I believe a big part of our O-Line problems over the years has been a lack of versatility. We've suffered a lot of injuries on the line, but we draft guys who are RT's only, or exclusively OG's and when we get an important injury to say, the LT spot, we are left to sign someone off the street and that never works out well. I want guys who can be moved around to fill in for injured players, so we don't have to bring in "bums" like Cedric Ogbuehi and Ereck Flowers.

I see no need for an ILB at all. Where would he play? We just signed Joe Schobert to a big contract and I believe the Jags are intent on using Jack at WLB as well as a backup MLB, if something happens to Schobert. Personally, I think you gotta add a 3 technique or a CB here, because we need much more competition for those starting spots. We lack quality players at DT and CB.

I like Huff, but I'm getting quality players at DT and CB, before I worry about DE. I'm pretty excited to see what Smoot can do in an expanded role. He added what looked to be 20-30 lbs. last year and seemed much more effective in limited downs. I think he can fill the role that Calais Campbell had with this team. I'm not saying he's gonna be as good as Campbell was in his prime, but I believe he can be good enough that the drop off won't hinder us.

I know we're not gonna fill all our needs in this draft, but I expect us to fill the NT and #1 CB position while adding more competition to the CB and DT positions as well. I also believe we need to come away with a #2 WR and a versatile OG/OT who can provide competition at LT, but would most likely be plugged into a starting OG spot for the 2020 season. If we fill these needs, I'd be happy. We could then fill the rest of the holes in the 2021 draft.

We need to have a solid LB corps. Murray is a terrific player both INSIDE and OUTSIDE. The more talent at LB the more difficulty the opposing OC will have poking holes through the defense. I would not shy away from adding a play-maker at ILB right away at the top. Simmons from Clemson should be our 9th pick provided Derrick Brown is already selected.

Also, we should grab Benito Jones, the Ole Miss DT.
