NFL 2014 Compensatory Draft Projections
|
The same people who made these projections had the correct round on 24 out of 32 Compensatory picks in 2013 and were off by one round on 5 of the 8 picks they didn't correctly project. Considering the complex formula for Compensatory picks, that's a very good batting average:

I read on Bleacher Report we are not getting any CPs. That better not be true because we lost a lot of free agents and one of them played in the Super Bowl.

I had to think about that for a second. We let good people go? I didn't know we had any good people, but Daryl and Knighton performed admirably.

Terrance Knighton was the best guy on Denver's defensive line last year andc Daryl Smith was not why Baltimore missed the playoffs. Apparently it does not matter when the player's contract is only $5M for 2 years.
Guys....and lady, I believe we signed more free agents than we lost or broke even...that is why no comp picks for us.
But I could very well be wrong We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:Guys....and lady, I believe we signed more free agents than we lost or broke even. That is why no comp picks for us. I need to look that up. We lost a lot of players. Quote:I need to look that up. We lost a lot of players. You have to lose players by contracts expiring for it to be considered in the compensatory formula not by just outright releasing players still under contract.

Quote:You have to lose players by contracts expiring for it to be considered in the compensatory formula not by just outright releasing players still under contract. One additional component to what you expressed. Players that are UFA's that don't sign with a different team until after June 1 don't count towards the NFL Compensatory Formula. Hence, in the case of the Jaguars, Daryl Smith and Rashean Mathis aren't part of the formula that would help them get one or more Comp picks. Some UFA's have to wait until after June 1 to get a viable contract offer from another team because of the way the NFL Compensatory procedure is set up. Quote:Hah. I had to think about that for a second. We let good people go? I didn't know we had any good people, but Daryl and Knighton performed admirably. I think I remember John O saying that we can't receive a comp pick for Smith. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:You have to lose players by contracts expiring for it to be considered in the compensatory formula not by just outright releasing players still under contract. We did not cut Terrance Knighton. He was a free agent. Quote:The NFL awards additional picks to teams that are determined to have suffered "net losses" in free agency during the season prior. While the losses of Terrance Knighton and Derek Cox qualify as ones that would provide the Jaguars with picks, they were cancelled out by the additions ofRoy Miller, Geno Hayes, Alan Balland Sen'Derrick Marks. http://www.bigcatcountry.com/2014/2/10/5396720/nfl-draft-2014-compensatory-selections-jaguars
