Good for him. Cool that his Mizzou teammates supported him the past season. Wouldn't mind having him on the Jags if his play can help the pass rush.

Now Michael Sam's agent says he wanted to wait unti lafter the draft to come out, but teams already were suspecting he might be gay during the Senior Bowl.

Michael Sam's bravery just made a huge step for gay rights. I have nothing but the utmost respect for him. That being said, I couldn't care less what consenting adults do in private with other consenting adults, so that will be my last ever comment on the issue (unless I hear a particularly funny joke).

I put him in as my prediction for the 3rd rounder in that thread on the main page. I'd still be happy with that, guy is a beast and his effort and intensity on the field screams Gus Bradley player to me.

There is nothing in the world that directly relates to people being gay. No one is at a higher risk than someone else. Genetics has nothing to do with it. There is not a chromosome of gene in the body that makes one person gay and another person straight. A person doesn't have a stroke and become gay. He was already gay and then used the stroke as an excuse because he was afraid to come out.

Really, this topic shouldn't be on the message boards because it has nothing to do with football. This would be like having a religious or political debate on this board. It's just going to cause problems.

I am not the one who made up the idea there is a biological reason for it. I am just saying that has been suggested as a possibility.

We can stop talking about the causes and effects of being gay/lesbian, but the original topic will never go away. Kudos to Michael Sams for saying it when he did.

First off.. anyone who knows gay people knows it is not a choice or a lifestyle.

He came out because the cat was already out of the bag. I applaud him for saying he is just a football player and not an activist. At the end of the day, he is just being honest about who he is.

As for people saying they wouldn't want him on our team, I actually think ours is one of the locker rooms he would be safe coming into. So long as he has that love of football and drive to compete.

He cannot help that ESPN and other major media outlets are gonna blow this up beyond what it is really worth. This is Tebow 2.0 or Favre retirement watch all over again for the people that manufacture story lines instead of doing actual reporting.

He was SEC defender of the year. He has flashed in games. But he had a bad Senior Bowl. If he is there and ranks out appropriately, you draft him. Its that simple. Just like seeing black baseball players is not even noticed as unusual, someday fans will also turn a rightfully blind eye to sexual preference. All that matters is what occurs on the field.

I read mid-round, late-round, and third day pick. Nobody said third round in any of the articles I read about him.

I don't know about gay rights, but it will lead to more gay ahtletes coming out of the closet before they retire.

I don't know gay people, but I do know it is not a choice.

If any board member does not want him to be a Jaguar because of sexual preference, he is prejudiced. He is a football player.

Michael Sam is going to be the first openly gay player in NFL history because so far only former players have come out of the closet.

Ricky Williams and Kordell Stewart both admitted they were gay. Michael Sam is not the first and won't be the last but I really don't care to here people's sexual preference.

Being gay is a choice. While there are things that can lead to it like having a abusive father or a single male parent can lead u to liking men. U still have a choice I have a couple of buddies that are brothers that weren't raised well. The older brother has a good job and is happily married the other brother can't keep a job and is in and out of jail. The older brother made better desicions in life. I which Michael Sam luck but I'd be concerned if he makes this a issue now by bringing it up is he gonna make a bigger issue later.

Being ignorant is a choice. Being gay is not. Go to any LGBT event and ask for a show of hands how many are gay by choice. When zero hands go up, you can say you know better. Why would someone choose to be gay? To risk being attacked, discriminated against, disowned? Sounds so appealing and glamorous. The threat of being fired or denied public accomodation because you're gay. Educate yourself.

We are talking about the first openly gay player. No NFL player has ever come out during his career.

And if either of those players came out after retiring, ESPN would have talked a lot about it.
