Now in addition to Bortles being the only true high profile traditional Bill O'Brien mold QB in the class, and George O'Leary (UCF's head coach) being a long time BoB mentor, the Texans have just hired Bortles' QB coach from UCF also.

This would literally be the biggest draft smokescreen of all time if Bortles doesn't go #1 at this point.

EDIT: Nvm, this guy didn't actually coach Bortles as he left in '08...but it is still curious the ties with both O'Leary, BoB, and USF. Got ahead of myself.

I wouldn't necessarily link the two. The Bills hired Nassib's college coach as HC last year and took another QB entirely despite what the draftniks predicted.

I really hope we draft Teddy. Bortles accuracy and decisionmaking/improv isn't close to Teddy/Johnny, but he does have good size, nice deepball placement, and good athleticism.

I like Bortles over Manziel.  He has Roethlisberger-like escapability (with more athleticism and less monstrous-ness, IMO) and he's very clearly a gamer.  Not to say I would be upset with Manziel--but I feel like the first few times he tries to run backwards and then chuck a prayer into triple coverage it's going to be 15 yard losses and pick sixes.

All Manziel's plays are designed

Good, if they take him we will probably get mr Teddy

Mettenberger is a less polished version of Bortles. Why not just grab him later on.

We will have to trade up though. No way does St. Louis stay at 2

I want Teddy so bad it's unreal, I just have a gut feeling that he's going to be a monster, I've watched so much tape on him and Bortles and imo their not even in the same league.

The only thing they have similar is there body size. Bortles is very good at escaping and running for a first down while mettenberger is a statue but has twice the arm as Bortles

Uhh what? Bortles is just as accurate as Manziel and Bortles accuracy is very close at almost every level. Decision making....really? I've seen Manziel just toss the ball into triple coverage. I wouldn't exactly call that being a good decision maker.

No qb can improv like manziel. That's the one trait that stands out but I question whether he can do that in the nfl where the players are bigger, stronger, and faster. Bortles has made some big plays rolling out of pressure.

I am with you. I feel he will be a top 10 qb in 2 years and top 3 in 5.

Mett is a statue.  No mobility and his mobility in the pocket leaves much to be desired.

So are half the QBs in the league. Mobility isn't an issue with him its his wind up and throwing motion.

I've been informed that the dude is a former QB Coach for UCF, from before Bortles was even there..

I don't think they're saying it's a bad thing.  There was a dude up there who said he was basically Bortles, which isn't even remotely true.

Unfortunately for Mett, he's a still-raw statue who tore an ACL.
