Missouri DE Michael Sam admits to being gay

I think it'd be much better if they were open about it, as well. If they believe that to be their identity, they should be bold in it. As should everyone else.

Quote:Hey I live in Kansas City, Kansas area. Maybe I should just drive over to Missouri and ask Michael Sam myself lol.

How far is St. Louis from Kansas City?

I hope you are not serious.

Genius move by Sam. He has put the NFL on the spot. Now if he slips in the draft, the league GMs will get hammered with questions, and Sam will be perceived as a victim of prejudice.

I'm just kidding man. I'm ready to move on. We all have a opinion

Absolutely. Many current and former players, both Giants owners, Robert Kraft, the NFL, and two White House residents have all tweeted support. Ironically one of them was Richie Incognito.

He is unlikely to slip in the draft because of this. The projection is rounds 3-5, so unless he drops to round 6, nobody should complain.

So you and your congregation think it's "bad"- but insist that they be open about it?

Makes it easier to judge when everything is out in the open, eh?

I'm just thankful that I don't associate myself with any social affiliations that dictates whom I can or cannot like or support. It makes things easier for me.

I can just like or dislike someone for who they are without having to make sweeping judgements about a "type" of person.

I think they should be open about it because they're much more likely to be suicidal or depressed if they hide it.

I don't judge people at all actually. I can honestly say that I love everyone because I know how incredibly valuable people are. I'm making no sweeping judgment about them, I'm making a judgment on their lifestyle. The difference is key. So for example, I wouldn't say that someone who has told a lie is a bad person, I would say that the action of lying is wrong. It's very important. I still love the crap out of the homosexual (maybe not literally in this case Big Grin ) and the liar. I just don't think that lifestyle is what they were created for.

I should probably not have quoted you as my statement was more broad.

I will say that I am not arrogant enough to suggest I have any idea what people were created for.

I don't think that's why he did it.   I think he did it because he knew there would be lots of rumors and questions, and he just wanted to get it over with.

(This post was last modified: 02-10-2014, 06:44 PM by Kotite.)

He actually went about it exactly the right way.  He is just asking to be treated equally.  So compare him by everyone else's combine numbers and pro days.

Gay people have been around since the Egyptians.  Go watch Caligula.  Native Americans revered gay people and referred to them as "two spirited" possessing special gifts.  ..before we exterminated them of course.  It doesn't have to be the environment they grew up in being a traumatic experience.  As stated, it is a natural deviation from the norm which will always place them in the minority.  Like gingers.

Does he need a parade as some have mentioned? No.  Is ESPN going to try to turn this into a mini-series? Yes.  Because that's what they do.

Just treat him equally as a player whether you are pro or anti gay in your personal beliefs.  I keep hearing his name referenced in size comparisons to Mathis and Dumervil.  If he can put up those numbers, he should be heralded.  If he is out of the league in three years, that can be his story too.  When 5 or 6 teams have openly gay players a few years down the line, nobody's going to care.

Only a chump boos the home team!

If you knew the author of a story and they told you the role and purpose of one of the characters, would you be arrogant to tell someone else of the character's true meaning in the story?

There's nothing wrong with being gay.  It's not a choice.  And if he can help us win football games, I want him on our team.

That is all.

LOL

It's pretty "gay" that grown men worry about other men's bedroom habits

Next time you hang out with God, please thank him for trolling the world with the Sochi Olympics.

There were already lots of rumors and questions.
