Drafting a Running Back

#1

One of the positions that we need to draft is RB. Who do you have your eye on and what round do you think would be a good value for him?

I kinda have my eye on Sankey from Washington in the 2nd or 3rd. The one concern I have is his pass protecting ability though.

I like Hyde or Hill in the 4th round.

Grice in 4th or 5th

If Sankey was available at our 3rd round pick, I'd be sprinting to turn the card in with his name on it. I'd take him in the 2nd too depending on how the board shakes out.

too bad there's not a Trent Richardson in this year's draft

Carlos Hyde is projected to go in the first round.

What about Tre Mason?

I think there's enough talent after the 3rd round.  I wouldn't use anything higher than a 4th round pick on a RB while the team has so many other needs.

I like the FA crop of RBs.

Give me Donald Brown or Ben Tate and a late rounder.

Which fourth round pick would you use for a running back?

If we get any more picks, I want them to be for the second day. We already have three extra third day picks.

I'd be OK with using any of the 4th round picks on a RB if they believe he's good value at that point.

(I'm just hoping they find guys that can start right away or really soon at positions of greater need in rounds 1 through 3. )

I'm a big fan of Carey he's a good every down back can do it all , Sims from West Virginia also a very good versitile back like Forte, Hyde he teminds me of MJD or Lacy, and a real sleeper could be Isiah Crowell out of Alabama State if he gets his act together could be a real very good at the next level. Would be happy with any of these backs

Crowell intrigues me and could be good value based on where he's projected.  Sims interests me a lot as well as Sankey.

Guys...Sankey is the most overrated RB in this draft, by far. I don't want any RB until the 4th round and then take two out of the plethora of good RB that will still be there. Take advantage of the ridiculous depth of this RB class.

I was really just kidding, I'd rather not take a RB until day 3.

You can get Storm Johnson late. Teach him how to put the ball in the correct hand when running and he will be just fine.

You can also bring in guys like these two as UDFA for competition.

Lorenzo Taliaferro - (Costal Carolina) Played in Senior Bowl and may have turned enough heads to be drafted.

Alfred Blue - (LSU)

If we draft a RB it should be in the 5th round or later thats for sure. Maybe that kid from Colorado St.

There is no "correct hand." It is all about how he holds it in his hand.
