Cleveland. What a mess.

Quote:Haha. Seriously Lombardo already got canned? Unreal. One year or bust in Cleveland. I believe Shad will give Caldwell and Gus four seasons to figure it out, unless things become truly disastrous. I'm not sure why they fired him. Probably conflict over which QB to select? My guess is one major reasoning for the front office housecleaning in Cleveland was their failure to land what owner Jimmy Haslem considered a top Head Coach candidate. Last year, it was their failure to land Chip Kelly. This year, it was their failure to land Adam Gase, Josh McDaniels, and Ken Whisenhunt. Haslem likely lost confidence in the abilities of Mike Lombardi and Joe Banner to sell the Cleveland Browns as an attractive destination for coaches and potential FA's. The irony there being, until the owners stop running out the staff every year, nobody is capable of selling Cleveland as an attractive destination for coaches and potential FA's.
Im rolling about the comment on the Browns board that they are joking about trading Weeden to the Colts to rejoin Richardson and Chud. "If they will give us a 1st for Richardson, we could get a 6th for Weeden"

LOL... Lombardi didn't last as long in CLE as Gabbert did as our QB.
After seeing how "well" he did with the Raiders, how does a guy like that even get a second chance to begin with?

I'll do the TMD take for him.
See. This is what a quality team does. They won't sit by and accept mediocrity. This is exactly why the Jags will never be awesome like the Browns. I'm sure you people will line up to tell me I'm wrong.

Quote:LOL... Lombardi didn't last as long in CLE as Gabbert did as our QB. For all it's worth, he just got another chance. Michael Lombardi has been hired by the Patriots front office.
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Quote:just check out the Browns fans over on their board, they seem pretty happy about it? I was thinking Farmer could easily be an upgrade over Lombardi. My only question about this whole thing is if Farmer were already in your front office/scouting department and you thought him to be a rising star, why bring in Lombardi at all? Why not promote Farmer in the first place? Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
Quote:I was thinking Farmer could easily be an upgrade over Lombardi. They probably looked at the Jaguars, saw that they hired a GM from within that they thought to be a 'rising star'. Saw how it turned out, and decided against it.

At first I was sorry for the Browns, but WOW, this is really depressing now.

I could never understand what the Browns understanding was in bringing back Lombardi. IMO if felt like a sympathy rehire.
I read on their MB that the reason he was fired was because he and Banner would not bring in Schiano who was a favorite of the owner. Now they want Manning to be a part of their FO. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/201...best-hope/
