Defensive line woefully bad

And to think there are people on here who actually believe that bull [BLEEP].

Think we're missing Campbell more than Yan at this point. He could line up inside and get pressure and push the pocket. We're getting none of that right now from our DTs.
But I don't think missing Yan is helping either.

I can't help but wonder if Calais could be teaching him a thing or two. I don't think Allen is savvy enough yet to be teaching rooks the ins and outs of beating the veteran linemen.

Allen is too busy getting 4 sets of hands in his face. If Ngakoue, Ramsey, Campbell and Bouye were on this team we'd be 3-1 for sure. I'm only counting the Titans game as a loss, not because of how the game went but because we always lose to the Titans.

That was another reason why I wanted to keep Calais, to help Chaisson.

I mean, imo there is a good side in both trading him and in keeping him

Trade him

We get an extra pick
We probably lose more lol and we get better picks in the draft. Let's be honest, even with Calais we wouldn't make the playoffs.
We free some cap space

Keep him

We have more leadership
We have a good player that provides inside pass rush
We have a mentor for Chaisson and Allen

I am a fan, not a cheerleader.

Oh we're definitely missing Campbell as well. He's still out there making plays every week for the Ravens

I don’t think he would necessarily translate to more wins, but the rush would probably be more effective with teams having to gameplan and lines having to block two serviceable edge rushers instead of one

It wouldn't, that was my point.

What good would do having Ngakoue? guy can't stop the run, no doubt he would help the pass rush, would it really matter though? for what? it's clear we are not making the playoffs and the guy didn't even want to be here.

We should have kept calais or if not then we should have signed clowney. We had the room at least for a one year rental.

I hate the Jags strategy of plugging in rookies to replace veteran pro-bowlers.

Even though the rookies are high-draft picks

We have a TOTAL of 4 sacks so far this season.

Ngakoue has 3 with 2 forced fumbles
Here we go again

It's clear Allen benefited more from Ngakoue than the other way round but I also think Calais was even more important.

That's nice, did you watch his sacks? Vikings are still 1-3 even with "elite" Ngakoue and his 3 sacks.

Agreed.  He is not what he once was, but still productive.  Our interior D-Line is horrendous.
This is a results-oriented business.  There are no trophies or titles given for "moral victories" or for "winning the draft".  Our record with DC is 37-86.  6-10 is our 2nd best season in 8 years of Caldwell leadership.  These are the FACTS.

The last 3 years Dave has went dline in the first, you think we would be able to get some pressure. 3 1st round picks in back to back to back years and nada

Wingard wouldn’t make the roster on any other team.

That is a bit of an exaggeration.

If this is true, we're literally throwing darts at a board in the darkness.

But at this point it's what we need to get any sort of production from the front four because the only way Wash decides to change the gameplan and mix up the defensive coverages/blitzing is if hell freezes over.

Sheard may not be great, but hes always been productive and they should have brought him in weeks ago.

4.5 sacks or more in 8 of his 9 seasons with 51.5 total.
