Do you?
You're right I'm not trolling though.  Like me, you usually get your facts right.
We just have different core beliefs and different ideas about what the great battle or story of our time is, who is the villain, and who is the hero.
So we take the same facts and insert them into our stories in different ways.
Almost everyone else here is more agreeable and I suspect it's because their core story is simpler, at least regarding politics.  Take SkullRebelAlliance and JIB.  Both of them understand facts just as well as either of us, both of them certainly have stories to tell from their own lives, but politically speaking, both of their stories amount to just "leave me alone, government". Yours is all "we gotta take the press and academia away from the commies!" and I'm all like, "we gotta find a way to compromise with each other!" Their story just depends on them.  Our stories require others to behave in a way that pushes the story forward.  But you push mine backwards and I push yours backwards.
But it's OK! Neither of our opinions matter!
I'll buy you a beer sometime.  Maybe a mojito.

As if anyone here likes you.

Everyone, if you like me better than Mike, vote thumbs up or thumbs down on this post.

I bet you went looking for the vote up down buttons and wondered where they went! Houdini over there made them disappear.

That's the great thing about setting your standards low.  You can't be disappointed.

I’m seeing the disdain, but shouldn’t people be able to vote for who they want and not be a slave to their party?

Would you have the same feelings towards registered Democrats who decide to vote for Trump?

By the way, I’m a registered Republican who will not be voting for Trump either, mostly for the same reasons that TheO-LineMatters stated.  If the ticket were flipped I would probably be voting Republican, but in good conscience I cannot support Trump because to me it’s like rewarding bad behavior.

Did you see this picture from the weekend? It is not doctored and was published in the Boston Globe.

Absolutely, but if you don't see the very large differences between the platforms or choose to vote for Biden in spite of them (or constantly showing that you don't value the principles of the party you claim like Mikesez) then why are you in the party at all?

I get never Trumpers. I understand people who can't vote for Trump on principle. I couldn't bring myself to vote for Trump last election. I can even understand why people would vote for an establishment candidate like Biden, even if they are a registered republican. I personally think they are making a mistake, but I can understand the rationale. What I don't understand, is someone who pretends to be a republican because he thinks it gives him some kind of tactical advantage in a debate on a messageboard.

Mikesez is not an authentic poster. He makes asinine claims about himself and consistently tries to take "Machiavellian" approaches to arguing. I put it in quotes because he's terrible at it. Almost every post he makes has a falsity attached to it. Intentionally, imo. I've said it before, but he is either SUPER naïve, or he's a liar. I don't think he's naïve. I don't know why someone would come to a messageboard and do what he does, but people do weird stuff. Regardless, he's full of [BLEEP]. I would rather have a beer with the most radical poster here than someone like Mikesez. At least I know they are genuine.

That said, I'll have a beer with you, Mikesez. Tell me when and where.

What makes you so sure I'm pretending?
I am a registered Republican.  I vote in Republican primary elections, but sometimes if my candidate doesn't win, I support a different candidate in the general.
You say you understand that on principle, but you think I'm not really doing that. Why?

Joe has really taken a cognitive dip for the worse this week and isn't looking very healthy. The meds they have been putting him on are probably not good with a lot of side effects.

Yes.
I can't speak for Kodiak, but at this point I can excuse his bad personal behavior.  If we were still talking about sleeping with porn stars and stiffing contractors and playing fast and loose with tax returns, I could excuse that in the name of the overall welfare of the country, if I thought he was governing well.
The problem for me is where his bad behavior spills into statecraft, specifically w/r/t letting the state department become an arm of his campaign - as alleged in the impeachment.

There are many people that I respect on this board due to their intellect, sharp wit &/or views.  There are very few people that truly annoy me here and I would seriously enjoy having beers with almost any of you.  A bar table chat that included Lucky2last, Lastonealive, Mikesez, Stroudcrowd, FSG & Rollerjag would be a top tier bucket list item for me.  Crazy how we can disagree politically at times and be marching lockstep together like on thoughts and feelings about the Jags (like me & SC).

To answer SC’s earlier question, though, I am as yet unsure of whom I will be voting for.  Trump has lost my vote due to his personality, his open attacks on the organization I work for (US Postal Service), and his bravado-laced poor handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, among other things.  Maybe it’s a fault of mine that I cannot ignore these negatives and simply focus on some of his initiatives that I applaud, but that’s me.

So, I’m left with a 3rd party protest vote or Biden.  As I’ve said before, it doesn’t matter who I vote for because my state is blood red and will be won easily by Trump.  Hopefully I’ll have made my decision by the time I go to vote in person at the polling station on Nov 3rd.
