Minshew Not The Man

No that isn't my point. Just saying this roster isn't ready made and set for take off.  We won't see a return on the choice with this roster.

Its very telling that generally teams that draft in the top 5 are those that do not have a franchise QB.

But if there is one that could be present in the draft, you take him.

How was Costco? I need to head over.

Kind of busy, but I go to the one on the Westside.

Its way better than the one at the Town Center.

I live at the beach, so going to the Westside isn't really an option.

Looking like the shew just doent have the arm strength needed to be a top tier nfl qb. Just from watching the qbs opposite him this year it has become pretty glaring. Our o line does suck tho at pass blocking.

Not sure how many people are still on the Minshew train. Seems like Chark is turning now:

This lines up well with what I have been seeing. I would imagine Chark would have an even better grasp. For Chark to say we were open says it all. Minshew is not executing.

It also seemed like Cole was getting upset with Minshew during the game as well for bad throws.

The WRs definitely were. I think the issue is with the coaches telling Minshew to not hold the ball. He is throwing extremely early when pressure is flashing and also not following through.

The defense is defeated and doesn't really care and now the offense is doing the same.

We are tanking right? If Minshew lays an egg again, why not try to throw Luton in there, he is taller and has good arm strength (supposedly). Cant get any worse than it is already...
Plus we would have a reason to keep watching... At this point im thinking about just switching to Red Zone.

If anything Luton has the size to withstand the onslaught of defenders (real or imagined) that seem to have Minshew shook up and jumpy. Not to mention the height to see open receivers downfield.

Sounds like a good enough reason to start him in a game to me...

For what it’s worth I feel like Minshew typically can win a game. We saw it last year...

I think he is inside his own head and/or trying to make corrections to overcome deficiencies and in doing so has negated all of his proficiencies. He showed last year he could mount a comeback and win from the hole. This year it just seems the pressure of being THE guy this year got to him. I would imagine after his win in week one, the pressure only increased as expectations grew.

Yes, very unfortunate. However, I don’t know if Starting Luton really helps us. Maybe in week 14 or something. Minshew is maybe the backup of the future at this point. I would hold onto him as long as we have his rookie contract and draft a new qb.

It doesn't matter if they're trying to tank. They can't even do that right.

Anyway,
do you think the league will allow us to lose if both us and the Jets are 1-14 before the last game? You just wait for the number of crazy penalties against the Colts...

I'm not one for tinfoil theories but I can see this happening for sure. The NFL is $eriou$ about turning around the NY market.

I’m still not giving up on him. I very well may have been wrong about him, (I predicted that he will be our Franchise QB) I’m okay with admitting that. But I’m gonna look at 16 games before I make that decision.

That being said, either way, I agree with selecting Trevor Lawrence if we have the opportunity. This franchise can’t afford to pass up another Potential Franchise QB in the draft.

I was ready to say that as well after the performance Minshew put on the end of last year. I make my mind up at any given moment based on the facts I have at that moment. I’m not an ego driven person so if I’m wrong I’m wrong and I take it as an opportunity to learn and move on.

I started this thread because I recognized a version of Minshew against Miami that I saw in the Texans game in London last year. That for me was a BIG red flag for a franchise QB in his second year to fall apart to the floor of his rookie season. You just don’t see that. So I was comfortable taking the risk of making that judgment call. It’s been sadly vindicated by follow up performances.

Now if Minshew comes out gunslinging and completely changes...Hey- I’m perfectly ok with that! I would love to be proven wrong!

At this point- while I was mainly advocating taking Tlaw, at this point we may even need to entertain other prospects as well. In other words- Minshew has played bad enough to warrant an even greater risk than Tlaw, and grabbing a riskier prospect if available.
