How Do We Get Rid of Gus Bradley?

#41

Last year we scored 247 points and gave up 449.

That's an average score of  Jags 15 -  Opponent 28

If we can't improve on that --- GONE !!!

I feel like if we get our QB in the draft and our OL/DE problems fixed in FA/Draft we could contend this year, why not?

I think of it as a 4 year plan. Expectations are still rather bleak because we have one of the worst rosters in the league. As soon as Gus/Dave get their guys and we aren't a playoff contending team after year 4 then we should just cut our losses. But we should have an arrow of consistency. If we only win 4 or less games next year I'd consider it a big problem. Carroll went 7-9 with the Seahawks in his first two years playing in a relatively weak division before the Jim Harbaugh took over the 49ers. Then the third year they got a franchise QB and won a playoff game after finishing 11-5 and then winning the Super Bowl this past year. I'm not saying this is a fair comparison but it shows if a team is bound for success it shouldn't take years and years to go anywhere like Marvin Lewis' Bengals.

No pain, no gain.

I think that we're stuck with Bradley for the long run. Regardless of how well we perform.

Comments like this are an example of why I believe you're one of the deep thinkers on this board.

Seriously, Gus does not have a secure job regardless of how the team performs.  There are certainly situations where his job might be in jeopardy.

If we know one thing about the owner, if he gets the sense the team is headed in the wrong direction, he's not going to sit on his hands.  So, making comments such as yours is just silly ignorance.

Why are you guys talking about getting rid of Gus Bradley?   That seems pretty silly.

It's the off season.  It's what they do.

I dont think its a totally unreasonable conversation.

Most people don't expect much from us next year, but obviously there has to be a minimum expectation for improvement going into year 2 or jobs are on the line. Is that not a reasonable discussion topic to you?

Once again, I love Gus. Don't want him to leave. Just posing a hypothetical as to what would shake the organization's cconfidence in him.

Feel free to point out where I said it was unreasonable.

Silly? Absolutely. The team showed improvement late last season, assuring that Gus is safe. I don't expect regression at this point as everything indicates the opposite.

I am starting to sympathize with JaguarsWoman.   Sometimes things are posted on here that I find absolutely baffling, too.

But the headline, "How do we get rid of Gus Bradley," comes across as "Tell me how we can get rid of him."   Like we really ought to get rid of him, but somehow, we can't.   It's the weirdest thread title I've seen in a while.

Perfectly valid topic.

Awkward and misleading thread title.

That's simply the art of headlining, my friend.

I despise that we are in such an age of decline in journalistic standards that deception is celebrated as something positive.

And I couldn't, in a million years, think of a more inappropriate word for that cheap practice than "art."

Ok for a message board.  But "headlining" in such a fashion has become too common - and I, for one, have no stomach for it.

I made no deception. I piqued interest.

LOL.  You know what the title implies and it's intentionally different than what you've stated your opinion to be.  That's deception.

False. I don't bank anything on implication. If you take it that way, that's fine, and I understand why you would. All it was was an entertaining way for me to draw people in. Nothing else.

I hear you. And I get that you see it that way.  And - it's just a message board - so I only took offense to the "art of headlining" comment.

I'm sure I'm plenty older than you - and I remember journalism before the internet very, very well.   Such practices were reserved only for the cheapest grocery line tabloids at one time. Now they pervade all but the staunchest of periodicals.  Call me old-fashioned - but I preferred a time before the internet ruined journalistic integrity.

Sorry for the rant.  I just prefer not to be baited and disappointed - and I would never call tricking someone (however harmlessly) "art."
