Who should the Jags select at #3?

#1

Here's a poll to get Jag fans opinion of who the Jaguars should select at the #3 pick. Feel free to discuss who else is worthy of the pick. Apologize if there is already a poll for this.

I'd be ecstatic with either Teddy or Bortles.

I want Clowney then Manziel but Clowney will be gone so Manziel.

A lot of people talk about Manziel’s arm strength negatively, but I don’t see why. He has a very strong arm. From what I’ve seen, in terms of pure arm strength, I’d put him second above Bridgewater
and behind Mariota. He is able to throw the ball for chunks of yardage at a time through the air, and honestly he could probably throw it a whole lot further if he put his weight behind it (he has footwork issues which I’ll address later). One thing I was also pleasantly surprised with was his touch. He knows how to control the arc of the ball pretty well, but it’s not fantastic. I would also put him second in this category, with Mariota at third (Bridgewater is far and away the best touch passer in the country.) Anyway, I digress. He is also, as you can see from the statistics, very accurate. 80% accuracy against the best team in the country isn’t normal. It’s very good.

Bridgewater or Clowney, trade back if neither of the two are there

I don't know enough about Teddy Bridgewater to decide if he should be our pick or not but currently am leaning that way because Johnny Manziel said he will not throw at the combine or TAM pro day. That makes me think he must be hiding something.

Not necessarily, he is just using the extra time to prepare

I heard yesterday Manziel will throw at combine. I really want Clowney but if not him I'll take Dee Ford or Sammy Watkins. There's not a qb I'd pick at 3 or top 10.

I remember when A.J. McCarron skipped the Senior Bowl, everybody on this board thought that is a red flag he is hiding something. So why shouldn't I think the same about a guy saying he won't throw at the combine?

Then how do you explain this article? http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000...agent-says

Dee Ford is not a top 5 player. I would love him in the second round if he drops to #39.

I want Watkins and/or trade down. The others have too many question marks. Either the upside isn't there (Bridgewater) or the ceilings crazy high with almost as crazy bust potential (Manziel), or overdrafting (Bortles). Then with Clowney, I just think he will quit on us. He is safe talent wise, but I don't trust his work-ethic at all.

So that leaves me with Watkins, an elite talent, at a position of need (especially if Blackmon flames out), who looks like the kind of game changer you need to get at that high a draft pick. And then you can take one of the later QB's or maybe one of them falls. I have no trouble with any of the above QB's at 2nd or even if we had to trade back up into the bottom of the first. I just don't like any of them at 3 anymore. I will say I feel like Bortles is like Flacco, so bottom of the 1st seems like the right place to me.

Clowney -> Watkins -> Bridgewater/Manziel in that order.

Incorrect. He won't throw at the combine, he WILL throw at TAMU pro day and private workouts.

Not according to this article: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000...am-pro-day

Johnny Manziel won't put his throwing arm on display for NFL scouts at the Texas A&M pro day event on March 5, and will instead throw for scouts at an on-campus workout three weeks later, according to a report.

"Three weeks later" means March 27. That will be the only time he throws for NFL scouts.

C'mon, man, you know better than that. The question is about the #3 overall pick, not the fifth pick in the fourth round.

If you want to talk about third day picks, I have a thread for that.

Then you better hope the Rams don't pick him at #2.
