Just saw NC isnt updating vote count til November 12th. Is this for real? This election feels so wrong.

I live in NC and I saw that. I think one big reason for this is because not only is the Presidential election too close to call, so is the Senate Race between Thom Tillis and Cal Cunningham. Thom has already declared victory here but Cal wants all of the votes to be tallied up. There are still 117,000 mail in votes that need to be counted here.

Your state doesn't have early voting?

This is unacceptable.

We did and from what I heard a lot of people showed up to it throughout the state. The early voting lines in the area where I live are usually pretty long. The place that is designated for early voting here usually is packed, it's one of the reasons why I don't really like to do early voting. It just looks like a lot of people did mail in this year as well.

I am just having a hard time understanding how a state like Florida with double the population of NC, with early voting in place was able to deliver their results on election night and NC needs 9 additional days.

Tonight will be interesting. If AZ doesn't report results, that means Trump has a fighting chance.

I think it was after the 2000 debacle when we became a laughingstock, that FL made significant changes to the vote collection and counting process

Two reasons. In Florida, state law allows the supervisor to open ballots before election day. Also, Florida does not accept ballots received after 7PM on election day unless they are military ballots.  NC accepts other types of ballots as late as November 12th.  That's a state law they came up with a while ago.

These types of state laws have to be enacted at least 6 weeks prior to election day, per federal law

Exactly.  We were one of the first states to go all optical scan, and early voting for everyone.  Jeb Bush and the people in power with him worked for that.  Can you imagine Republicans today trying to make government better like that? I can't. The Republican party needs to get back to that spirit.

Let’s just stop counting ballots in the middle of the night. Oh wait, while we weren’t counting, we find Biden is actually in the lead plus we found a poop ton of ballots for him. Let’s not let people watch the vote tallying. If this is what the Democrats Are doing, the entire US should be worried. Not just the republican voters, the democratic voters should be alarmed as well. If they’re doing that, imaging how warm and fuzzy you’ll feel when you get what you want. A country providing free education, yay! But the government feels you’ll make a damn fine garbage man. So, here is 1 month training on that. We may have Covid, but the other pandemic is stupidity and corruption. Smh. Add in min wage in Fl will go to 15.00. Who does that benefit? Costs will soar. This, putting most right where they are now. That 800/ mo apartment will be 1300.00 a month. Kudos to the Dems for catering to the dumb and lazy. Smart move. Instead of voting for what was working and encouraged people to go out and work or get an education to do so, we get this. But the rest of us will prevail. Like we’ve done before. However that may be. Be it here or elsewhere. And if it gets bad enough we’ve got much bigger fish to fry that I can’t talk about here.

Democrats are experts at manipulating dumb people. Their entire party is built on it.

Here is how America finally dies: the rich and powerful concoct a narrative of liberty and freedom. Like parasites they wrest control of the press, fund political campaigns, and suppress law enforcement. Their final frontier is social media. Then democracy is strangled to death.

If I’m reading everything right, the following explains it.

In Florida, early voting ballots are processed and counted when cast, mail-in ballots can be processed and counted 22 days prior to the election, when results are officially released.

In North Carolina mail-in ballots can be processed early, but counting them and early voting ballots cannot begin until Election Day. North Carolina law establishes the Nov. 12 date as the deadline for counting mail-in ballots which can be counted as long as they are postmarked no later than Nov. 3. This has nothing to do with how fast they count their ballots, they just want to make sure they give enough time for mail in ballots to get delivered to the elections offices.

For those of faith,  like I said, we’ve got bigger fish to fry if it comes to a socialist country.

I’m not really trying to take the republican side here.  I watched the movie.  I was thinking “man, this guy isn’t looking too good”. Then before the “act” the film quality on on 75 in Full HD tv got to the standard set level.  Especially while he (Rudy) was lying on the bed.  So I had to question that part.  But the rest... sure, not a good look.  But what old guy wouldn’t want that?

So for a national election, why don’t all states have universal laws.  Whatever that law should be, should be.   And this year, we’re seeing a little too many curveballs.

We could start with something simple like voter ID.

Democrats are sold on the idea that government can help them get ahead in their lives, which explains why they own the popular vote like the sun will rise in the morning. Republicans I know make their own destiny. As long as you have good advisers and accountants, you can navigate the laws of the land no matter how [BLEEP] up they are.
