He wont have many games where the opposing Defense drops 3-4 easy INTs that he throws... Most Defenses will catch at least half of those INTs, so keep playing the kid, he's sure to keep us on track for that top draft pick.

Meh... Minshew v2.0.  He did alright in his first start, nothing special.

Obviously I don’t. You must be harkening back to the days when the board was fun.

Dude is not good. Rightfully should have been 4 picks. The reason for his sixth round position were clearly on display.

I think we end up keeping 3 QBs next year, including a new draft pick.

If he stays consistent like that the rest of the year you still take Lawrence or Fields. Luton is good...Minshew at his best is good.

They arent elite, and it's been proven you need a game changer like Mahomes, Wilson, etc even these young guys like Burrow, Herbert, Murray are electric big play QBs and you keep trying until you get one.

Luton and Minshew aren't those guys

To me, that tells me Luton has a lot more confidence in his arm than Minshew does. That's a good thing, but he just learns to be more disciplined. Hopefully, he can reign it in a little.

Minshew just freezes up and takes unnecessary sacks, because he holds the ball too long.

Minshew gets squirrely when he's injured. He did the same thing last year.

Neither one of these guys are the answer. We're still in our perpetual QB hunt.
I don’t think we can make a decision on Luton at this time with such a small sample of work. One game under the worst possible Preparation. That said I don’t care how well he plays the rest of the season, we must draft a QB in the first pick in the draft.

How do you know? He has only played one game and had 4 practices.

Because we all know just read the boards.  I'm waiting for something to prove people wrong.  I did have crow for week one this year but it had more to do with Rivers having a bad game.

I have a feeling we are at the Luton ceiling with these coaches.  The more time a players spends in this system the worse they play.  So if you like dropped interceptions and weird throws....   wait there is more.  I think Jaguar fandom is proving some sadist streak I didn't know I had.  Either that or Stockholm Syndrome.

Even Patrick Mahomes has dropped interceptions and weird throws. Every QB has those.

Completely agree. Luton will improve with experience but he just doesn't have the franchise look out of the box like Mahomes or Burrow. Hopefully he becomes a solid starter to build on. Only time will tell. The quest continues.

Minshew was fun while it lasted but I don't think we'll see him back for anything substantive.

As much as I would like a QB early, Sewell and Pitts with our 2 1st would be a great way to start a rebuild.  2 future All Pros at 2 important positions.  Pure BPA and I like it

I don't think Pitts makes it to the 20s though

Different strokes for different folks. It isn't like Fields is a perfect prospect... and there are rarely "sure things" when it comes to QBs imo.

I mean honestly... Trask is having a Joe Burrow esque type season right now. If he continues on this trajectory (against an all SEC schedule) I could see him rising quickly up draft boards.
Before the season he was seen as a 2nd or 3rd round QB, quickly rose into late 1st and early 2nd talk.
Did very well vs UGA one of the top defenses in the country this past weekend (half the game missing his best offensive weapon), stands tall in the pocket when pressured, has the arm strength to make all the necessary throws, has the size... I mean, there's a lot to like.

We'll see how the season plays out... but right now Fields and Trask and Jones are very closely rated imo behind Lawrence.
If you can get a franchise LT at 2 and a possible franchise QB at 20(ish) wouldn't that be better than a possible franchise QB at 2 and possible starter at 3T or S at 20?

Absolutely. Mac Jones too.

That is the understatement of the century. He's been fantastic and I'm not even a Gators fan.

DING DING DING

He looked fine. Probably a stroke of luck on that second pass that went to the house, someone blew a coverage or something. Luton should be used to that, just like practice.

Now if he manages to fare as well against a healthy D and a coordinator who has a game or two of tape to study, I might say there's a QB controversy in Duval.

His best pass might have been the incomplete 2-point conversion. I am perfectly happy with competitive losses at this point in the season.
