why did they wait so long to do that?
Yes, it's improvement, but it's Blaine Gabbert 2012 level improvement. - Pirkster The Home Hypnotist! Media on the Brain Link! Quote:Peyton must store oxygen in that forehead of his. No way I'd still be alive after all that choking.

This should be a heck of an opportunity for a GM and new coaches. Yes, it actually looks like pieces are slowly falling into place. It's 'only' the QB now. More depth wouldn't hurt but I see no glaring holes except at the most important position.

Young players playing hard. with the right GM upcoming draft can be the most impactful in memory. Be interested in who's advising Khan.

Play some good football somewhere. Defense seems light years ahead compared to earlier this year. Still work to be done but hopefully we get new pieces and leadership. Does give hope for next year. Honestly decent play at QB and the game would have been different.

If the defense that has shown up the past few weeks, played like this earlier on this year when the offense was really clicking, the Jags would have a much better record. And probably be in the mix of things for the playoffs. It looks like they are continuing to start to gel as the team plays another competitive game.
I would have liked to have seen the Jags get a win here. I just can't support the rooting for losing mentality that a lot of fans have embraced. That feels slimy IMO. A lot of times that sort of thing doesn't work out anyway. And the Jets are just having a really rough year and it's a strong possibility they are going to get the #1 pick regardless of what the Jags do. I'm not sure who the Jets are going to beat on their remaining schedule. Maybe the Patriots, but that's not a given as the Patriots are still in the mix of things. I could see the Jags beating the Bears and for some reason maybe the Colts again. Anyway the Jags are so far behind almost everyone (except the Jets) that I don't see them picking any later than #3, but I think they will more than likely pick #2 (with a slimmer chance of getting #1).
Also, Doug just confirmed that the Jags are still sticking with Mike again next week. We probably won't see Gardner again unless Mike gets injured. It looks like this is the way that Doug chooses to go down finishing the season. I wonder which team Gardner may end up being traded to as I believe this strengthen the chances that will happen.

Minshew isn't getting traded, he's next year's backup/early starter. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

I will not miss Doug should he leave. The way he has treated Gardner this year and last is distasteful. He's never fully supported him which is probably one big reason why Gardner disclosed his injury. Doug was hinting at benching him earlier on, even though his production was decent. It feels this decision is partly based on him punishing Gardner for not being forthcoming about the thumb injury right away. He doesn't care about the "best chance to win" as much as he claims. He continues to make bad decisions as a coach. The team (regardless of who is the QB) will be better off with a better Head Coach. Doug and the coaches seem to prefer Mike right now and Doug has never been the biggest fan of Gardner. I could also see another regime trading him and maybe even keeping Mike as well, if he ends up winning a couple of these last games.
