Very odd pick for the Falcons when you have Walker and Jones

Not really. I have them taking a DE in round 2. I just didn't see a DE that would make as big of an impact for the Falcons that high in the draft. With the addition of Parsons, he would start at WLB, Jones would stay in the middle and Walker would move to the strong side. That would automatically make them the strongest unit on the Falcons' defense.

I almost had them picking Fields, but from what I've been reading, they seem like they're sticking with Ryan, at least one more year.

The Dolphins drafted Austin Jackson in the first round last year and seem to like him. Robert Hunt has played pretty well at RT as well. They do need a #1 WR though and Chase just seems to perfect to pass up there.

I almost went Fields to Atlanta myself. That could very well happen.

Arthur Blank said that decision is going to be up to the new GM and coach. So I'm not sure where you read it are sticking with Matty Ice but I think that's false info.

I just saw Sewell as too good off a prospect to pass up for Miami.

Atlanta seems like the perfect place for Fields. He can sit for a few years behind Ryan and learn. He’s also from the Atlanta area so it’s be a good fit. Atlanta doesn’t know when they will be picking this high again so I definitely could see them swinging for a QB especially if they hire an offensive-minded coach (like Bieniemy).

I think its highly unlikely they take a LB at 4.  Ryan will be there 1 more year because it will be almost impossible to get rid of him with his cap hit  but i still think they take a WR even of not in the first.  If Smith or Chase is available I could see that as well with Julio probably getting traded

You're probably right about Atlanta and Fields. I guess I was just projecting him to Detroit, because I have this feeling that somehow, someway, Matt Stafford is gonna end up in New England.

Personally, I would keep Jones and extend Ridley. They are a great 1-2 combination.

Re

The Phins are gonna make out like bandits trading that third pick. Either Cincy moving up to ensure Sewell doesn't go elsewhere or one of the QB-needy teams moving to get their favorite.

If I'm Carolina, I definitely would jump up, as I think Rhule may be the perfect coach to pair with Fields.

After the final draft order is set (except for playoff teams) and the debate we had about the Falcons pick (you guys made valid arguments for a QB and made me change my opinion), I did a tweak to my picks. I also extended it to the entire first round. I was bored. The holidays are over, the pandemic is still going on and other than football, there isn't much on television. Here it is, my new first round mock.

9. Denver Broncos- Caleb Farley, CB, Virginia Tech
10. Dallas Cowboys- Micah Parsons, LB, Penn State

18. Miami Dolphins- Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, LB/S, Notre Dame
19. Washington Football Team- *Mac Jones, QB, Alabama
20. Chicago Bears- Rashawn Slater, OT/OG, Northwestern
21. Jacksonville Jaguars (Via LAR)- Jaylen Twyman, DT, Pitt

Slater at pick 20. Would have loved that.

Also, you see Eichenburg falling that far?

I don't see Barmore out of the 1st he is on a rocket ship. I'd love him at 21 or whatever our 2nd first winds up being.

Yeah, there was another mock where someone had him going to our 2nd round pick and I said the same thing.  Although not sure about shooting up the boards like a rocket ship as he has always been a first round pick imo and possibly the first DT taken.  Crazy how many have him rated so low and would be a great addition to our dline

I'm always tempted to take a TE in mocks but I changed my mindset to hoping we get a Hunter Henry, David Njoku, Jonnu Smith, or buy low on Zach Ertz from the cap strapped Eagles. It makes too much sense to get an established guy like that. I don't see much upside a 4th-5th rd TE has over the ever-present Josh Oliver

Considering the needs of other teams and the OT's who have already declared, yes I do.

He hasn't declared and I don't know if he will, so I didn't have him in my draft. If he does, I would probably slot him to the Raiders in round 1.

I do. I don't think Oliver will ever develop into anything. He's always hurt. Three guys I like in the mid rounds are Brevin Jordan, Hunter Long and Charlie Kolar. I believe all of them would be huge upgrades over Oliver.

The 2 guys I'd love to see drop to our 2nd pick (21, I hope) would be Darrisaw or Rousseau. Since it's unlikely this will happen, my next choice would be Rondale Moore. Imagine adding him and a weapon at tight end in the 2nd round. Lawrence would weapons that could eventually be equal to Mahomes and the Chiefs. Free agency should focus primarily on defense, especially safety and defensive tackle (Williams).
