***Official NFL Combine Measurements Thread***

Quote:I think Teddy's hands come in right at 9". Bortles' might be about that, and I feel like you're pretty spot on about Manziel's giant hands. I do feel like Teddy will be 6'2" though. I am not worried about Teddy's frame if he is able to pack some some pounds. He gained weight while preparing for the combine. We show less advertisements to registered users. Quote:Here are my predictions on the top 3 QB's before the measurementsProbably gonna have to take off an inch and 10 lbs for JFF, add an inch and 10 lbs for Teddy and Bortles. Teddy will have slightly over 9" hands too I believe.

A lot of people talk about Manziel’s arm strength negatively, but I don’t see why. He has a very strong arm. From what I’ve seen, in terms of pure arm strength, I’d put him second above Bridgewater
and behind Mariota. He is able to throw the ball for chunks of yardage at a time through the air, and honestly he could probably throw it a whole lot further if he put his weight behind it (he has footwork issues which I’ll address later). One thing I was also pleasantly surprised with was his touch. He knows how to control the arc of the ball pretty well, but it’s not fantastic. I would also put him second in this category, with Mariota at third (Bridgewater is far and away the best touch passer in the country.) Anyway, I digress. He is also, as you can see from the statistics, very accurate. 80% accuracy against the best team in the country isn’t normal. It’s very good. Quote:BTW if we are going to talk about hands, we also need to talk about feet. Tweet from Zac Jackson: Careful JW, Farmer was making a joke. The joke has to do with the relationship between a man's foot size and the size of his genitalia. It's an old joke, still kind of funny....

QB measurements (will edit this post as they come in):

Odds we see Pirk eat some crow publicly for Teddy checking all of the boxes just fine despite his continual slandering?

Interesting to see Bortles check in an inch taller than listed by his team. Usually players are an inch shorter.

Bridgewater. His tape is so efficient (compared to other '14 QBs)... Maybe it's too boring?

Teddy has been so efficient and so consistent that I do think some people consider him "boring." The small hands could (could) be a problem but I'm not sure at this point. Love the fact he put on some pounds though. Quote:I like this tweet from McShay:This is all correct, except 9 1/4" is not small hands, they're just fine. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
If Bridgewater can pack on some pounds like this, then I'm ok with drafting him at #3

Good measurements from the top 3 guys, in my opinion. Bridgewater measured bigger than expected, and even though Manziel is just short of 6'0, his hands are big.
Too bad big hands don't help you see over linemen.
If that RV sales place wants Tebow in Jax bad enough to take out a billboard saying as much.....they should just HIRE him.
Glad to see Bridge come in at 214. Probably would start the season around 220
Shock the world

Quote:Too bad big hands don't help you see over linemen. While it is nice to have a QB who can see over the linemen, I don't think that's as big a deal as some people make it out to be.

Quote:While it is nice to have a QB who can see over the linemen, I don't think that's as big a deal as some people make it out to be.It's not about being able to see over them, it's about being able to have the nuance to find the throwing lanes. I'm not sure how developable that skill is, but Johnny Footstool doesn't have it yet. Wilson has it naturally and Brees has it, but I honestly don't know if he always did or if he developed the skill later on. |
