I'd bring him in on a 1 year vet minimum type deal. If he can stay healthy could pay off big especially for depth given that Shorts can't stay healthy and Blackmon's situation is still a bit unknown.

I'm not usually a sign the released veteran guy. But they need some experience at receiver and Rice would be a good candidate. I could dig a one year, incentive deal.

No. Best days are way behind him. People worried about Clowney packing it in once he's paid, look at this guy
"Expect for the best. Prepare for the worst. Capitalize on what comes."
Dude he's been hurt. Nothing to lose and everything to gain on a vet minimum deal plus Bradely and co are probably pretty familiar with him. I could see it happening.

Rice is 6'4" and is a dangerous receiver, when healthy. He hasn't had a big production season since 2009. At 27 years old, he could be worth an incentive contract. I don't think anyone is going to give him a big contract.
There is a reason why the Vikings let him go when he burned the franchise by deciding to play around when it came to having hip surgery.
He was never the same and basically got his payday out of Seattle. His best days are way behind him.

It would be a great signing. You just never can have enough injured receivers.

Do it! Then, also sign Simeon Rice, just to confuse all the play by play announcers.

What lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.
Minimum wage deal loaded with incentives? I doubt he'd sign it, but it wouldn't hurt anything to put something out there.
The fact that Gus should be pretty familiar with him, and they haven't given any indication they're interested probably speaks volumes here. Having the ACL at the end of October is no doubt a huge flag for most teams, especially since he wasn't cleared to resume any sort of football activity until today. My concern here is that if we gave him a 1 year deal, we'd have him for the year he's rebounding, and production / reliability will be reduced. That's a legitimate concern, even for a 1 year deal. They could use that roster spot elsewhere. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Quote:Minimum wage deal loaded with incentives? I doubt he'd sign it, but it wouldn't hurt anything to put something out there.certainly.. Just a matter of weighing the risk and reward. If he does return to form he could be a great compliment especially with Blackmon's situation being uncertain and Shorts not staying healthy. Quote:certainly.. Just a matter of weighing the risk and reward. If he does return to form he could be a great compliment especially with Blackmon's situation being uncertain and Shorts not staying healthy. And if he doesn't, you risk wasting a roster spot on a guy who isn't part of the long-term plan. Best case scenario is you get a guy who's 80% of what he was prior to the injury less than a year removed from ACL surgery. This is a guy who has had 1 1,000+ yard season in his 7 year career. The last full season he played was 2012. He racked up 748 yards. If we're getting 80% of that, we're looking at another 500-600 yard receiver as a best case scenario. I think we've got that guy on the roster already. If the concern is around Blackmon, we can address that in the draft. Like I said, I can live with a minimum wage deal, but I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have any interest in signing it. Anything beyond that isn't worth the risk because the reward isn't nearly what you seem to think it would be. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
