Just watched an interview of Robert Saleh on ProFootballTalk. Really really impressive guy, both with his experience and his character. I'm wondering now if we made the wrong choice picking a low character guy with no experience.

I mean.. it's not like it's not true.

He has had some of the worst locker rooms of all time. He's quit multiple times and lied about his reasons why. He has no experience at the NFL level.

I'm trying to be more positive about this and hope he's just going to be a CEO directing people with a firm culture foundation for them to flourish.. but let's not polish a turd.

He's done his research and seems to be going into this with eyes wide open. I would feel better about his prospects if he had some first hand experience though. Asking questions just can't substitute for experience. Meyer will start off a little shaky but improve as his knowledge base grows. My guess is he'll make a big jump in his second season.

Same kinds of things they did to us at basic training. You earn things by performing. It worked pretty well - it's amazing how important the ablit to take a smoke break or permission to make a phone call is when it's been taken away from you. LOL

He says all the right things and his college players are certainly complimentary, but we'll so how it translates to the NFL.  Only one way to find out.

I'd be lying if I knew a ton about the candidates but from afar I liked Saleh as well.  Seemed like a no nonsense guy that players respect.  Seems like he has the leadership skills you would want.  And obviously has had a lot of success as a coordinator.

But I'm still hopeful about Meyer.  Dude has always been a winner.  Hope he will be here as well.

I stopped because this kind of rah-rah [BLEEP] is absolutely stupid and indicative of a mind that has no idea how to handle it when your players make more than you do.  We'll see how much he's learned, I guess.

But had you finished the article you would have learned that Meyer understands that approach will not work in the NFL.

I'm not fully onboard with this hire either, but at least I'm willing to give the guy the benefit of the doubt. Selectively reading things which reinforce narrow opinions isn't doing him, or you, any good.

Not much has worked in over a decade so a guy that is a researcher and establishing a culture person is bought in this time. This is like Tom Coughlin but younger and with less baggage.  I hope it works because we are near the end of the line.

Wonder what the S&C coaches have to say about a diet of hoddogs when trying to stay in football shape.
