The protection of "others" is not my responsibility.  If the "others" are so concerned then they should stay in their homes with their masks on.  We don't live in a communist/socialist country (for now).  We live in a free country (for now) that allows personal choice.

If the Jaguars "mandate" masks and/or vaccine proof in order to attend a game, then I guess I won't be attending any games.

No wonder. Concepts like empathy and sympathy are beyond your knuckle dragging brain. You'll carry a gun for some perverted fantasy where you save the day by killing a human being but you won't wear a mask to prevent the spread of a deadly disease. Like I said; You got yours and [BLEEP] everyone else.

I did not say that. At all. Deciding to wear a mask or not is an individual choice. Period. The outcome of that choice lies with the individuals. Whether or not it affects them or others is a whole different conversation. 

There is no guarantee a cloth mask will prevent anything. There is no guarantee social distancing will prevent anything. There are no guarantees vaccines will prevent anything. All of these measures have failed with regard to the Delta variant as evident by the surge in new cases. All of these measures being forced onto us are not failsafe.

There's no guarantee that your shoes won't break in the middle of the day but you put them on every day anyhow.

What do we think of Governor DeSantis' order that school districts can not require students to wear masks in schools?
I have two elementary school age kids and they wore masks all last school year with no problems.  I thought there would be a problem, but there wasn't one.

Then have them wear one again this year. My kids will choose if they want to wear one or not. It will be their personal choice.

As usual you are wrong.  The Governor's Executive Order protects the right for parents to make health care decisions for their children.  I am in full agreement with this.  Government should not be mandating how people choose to live their lives.

Read the executive order for yourself.  It's only 4 pages long and double-spaced, so I think that even you are capable of reading it.

He also spoke about it in a recent press conference.

The order literally threatens to withhold funding from school districts that attempt to mandate masks.

He is not allowing the districts to have any say.

Districts shouldn't have the right to take away your rights.

Update: my school district has decided to do what Duval did: masks for all unless the parents opt out, and the opt out process isn't instant. I think that's a good decision.

I still think the governor's order is a major unforced error. When "red" districts like Duval are all but defying it, it's a bad sign. The polling on it is really bad. This is the first time DeSantis' popularity/approval is less than 50%. Really it's one of the first decisions he made that I disagree with.
