Odds that SNL does a skit on Urban?

Saturday Night Live was at its best during the early nineties. Most of those shows were absolute comedy classics. Dana Carvey and Phil Hartman were born to perform on SNL and then you had a ridiculously deep cast including Chris Farley, David Spade, Adam Sandler, Mike Myers, Rob Schneider, Mark Meadows and Kevin Nealon. Julia Sweeney as "Pat" was also hilarious. You even had Chris Rock for three of those seasons. The talent was unreal. The show fell off after those actors left and just seemed to keep falling off. I don't think I've even bothered to watch it in a couple of years.

They also became pretty "one sided" for 4 years there in how they approached certain political and social issues. I think it was at its best with Dan Akroyd, Steve Martin, etc but held strong through those 90s crews. Definitely fell off after Farley's death. Like the heart of the show went with him. If the Jags were a joke on TV...... We probably would be a 2021 SNL skit. Complete crap and somehow Pete Davidson keeps showing up

My favorite sketches of all time were the Jeopardy sketches with Will Ferrell as Alex Trebek, Darrell Hammond as Sean Connery and Norm McDonald as Burt Reynolds. That’s.. the “pen is mightier” (Sean) “I don’t care what you call it, if it works I’ll take it”

My apologies for this.....
Our categories include Therapist Alek Trebreck: Sean Connery, with the low score of $-1200, you go first in Double Jeopardy. Sean Connery: I’ll take The Rapist for $600. His professor Turgeson from Back to School was classic! As long as the team loses and Meyer is the coach, the media will not let the story go. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
Darrell Hammond’s Sean Connery character is one of the all time greatest on that show.

That SNL Chippendale's sketch with Farley and Patrick Swayze was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. SNL is dying a very slow death right now. I just read where the season premier on Saturday scored the lowest rating in the show's history. It stopped being funny a very long time ago. When I was in high school, me and my friends used to get alcohol, park our trucks out in the middle of a field and listen to Sam Kinison's standup tapes. Nothing like getting drunk and listening to raunchy comedy. Those were the days. He told jokes that would get him "canceled" today. His characters were the best in the shows history, imo. His Phil Donahue impression had me rolling. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

I don't think I've even bothered to watch it in a couple of years. I agree with the political skits. I thought in the early nineties that they were fair to both sides and their goal was just to get laughs and they succeeded. Newer writers considered laughs to be a secondary goal. Their primary goal seemed like it was to attack the one political party that they didn't like. I also agree that the show originally was very edgy, but them became much more mainstream and PC over time. I think much of comedy in general has been ruined by this PC movement. I don't think they'll have an Urban Meyer skit on SNL tonight because it would probably be considered offensive to women. Dan Akroyd is a good actor, but I was never into Coneheads, etc. Bill Murray and Eddie Murphy were also former SNL cast members. Steve Martin actually was not. He just hosted and guest appeared quite a few times (including during my favorite period of the early 90's). Chris Farley had already left SNL at the time of his death. In regards to the show falling apart, I think the first step was in 1994 where there were some departures, most notably Dana Carvey. However, the show remained excellent for one more season. They just relied more on the rest of the remaining cast. However, Hartman then left after one season. I feel like it was Carvey and Hartman that were the glue for the show. It's not to say that they were necessarily the funniest (although they were funny), but they brought it all together. The next season felt like a major decline in quality. The actors obviously felt it too as most of the good remaining cast members (Farley, Sandler, Myers, Nealon, etc.) left at the end of the season. The show never recovered after that. And Burt Reynolds on there. Those were good times.
