New Jersey teen sues parents for financial support, claims she was 'kicked out' of home
 

A New Jersey honor student is suing her parents in a potentially precedent-setting lawsuit for financial support and to force them to pay for college.

Rachel Canning, 18, of Morris Catholic High School, claims her parents threw her out of their Lincoln Park home two days before her 18th birthday in late October, although her parents insist she moved voluntarily. Both parties are scheduled to appear before a judge in Morristown on Tuesday.

Sounds to me like it's the adults that are advising the teen wrongly.  The dad said he's still willing to pay for her college tuition.  The school advised her to move out, and the friend who she's now living with's father is advising for the lawsuit.  Sounds to me like all of this could be settled by having the father and daughter talk it out.  But someone (the friend's father) is trying to make money off of it himself.  

 

This isn't a "OMG Young generation sucks!"  this is an "OMG older generation sucks!"

She definitely got some very bad advice and can't believe the father of her friend would get in the middle of this and then try and charge the parents for attorney fees.

I'm not really even understanding what her argument is. The only thing I can possibly see as valid is paying the last semester of her High School tuition.


In addition, she's asking for money for college and like a living stipend. On the basis they kicked her out two days before she turned 18? Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see how any adults even took this seriously.
