Ravens Reaction To Trade

#41

Quote:I mean we are getting 3rd day picks, what a fourth rounder, fifth rounder and a sixth? What exactly are we going to do with those picks???? Let them ride the bench right.

Have you seen our team?  I have no doubt that 4th and 5th rounders are capable of improving our team.  Ace looks really promising to me, and Evans was a 6th and flashes too (albeit, rookie mistakes).

You may not find your starting RT there, but we can get one in FA.  FYI, whether we kept Monroe or not, that's functionally what we were going to have to do by paying him.

Walt's mock drafts tell you everything you need to know about his opinion and how much you should respect it. He hated the LJ pick from the beginning for some reason.

1.This trade shows the jaguars had no intention on retaining his services beyond this year.

2.During the presser, G-Brad was saying that Joeckel was willing to cut block, which might infer that Monroe wasn't, making him less suitable for the style of blocking that is currently run.

3.The type of scheme defense we run makes it easier to find players later in the draft. (Seattle's Sherman, Wright, Chancellor & Thurmond, Jax's Evans)

Purely from a Ravens point of view, this trade made perfect sense.  They get a young healthy good LT to protect Flacco, and only had to give up likely late 4th and 5th round draft choices.  They have him for guaranteed for 12 games, but also have the exclusive right to negotiate a long term deal with him, or franchise tag him if the deal doesn't happen.

Quote:It will be interesting since Ray Rice had no holes and Bryant McKinnie getting worse.
As you would expect, the Ravens said they are shopping McKinnie now that they have Monroe. They obviously saw Monroe as an upgrade.

You guys are right. We drafted a LT to replace our young LT who is better than the drafted one. That's some brilliant management right there. Joker never should have been picked in the first place.

Nope we should've addressed the desperate problem at DE.

Quote:Good post.

This whole Monroe trade just seemed rushed and unnatural to me. Like Caldwell literally decided yesterday he needed to catch up with the Browns and start making trades.

I think thats what we might have did. We might be afraid that the Browns are going to try to jump us.

Quote:Maybe in Imaginationland.
Well then maybe the LT position isn't as important as all the true fans think it is and yet Jags spent a 2nd overall on one. Imaginationland exists and it's at Everbank or whatever the heck the stadium is called now.

So we got a 4 and 5 for a guy who would probably cost more than he's worth and wasn't even performing much better than the rookie who is playing out of position. .....better than nothing
