Jags to hire Leftwich as next head coach!!

The only 2 things I read about his first interview was from things that were posted on this board.

1. I don't remember if it was a tweet or from someone here who has a pal in the building...  It was said Khan was "wowed" by Pederson.
2. Someone was complaining that Khan let his emotions be made public about how he felt about Pederson.

So if Khan was wowed and Pederson didn't get a second interview until now, it tends to suggest Pederson balked at working with Baalke.  Khan moved on until it turned out nobody else wanted to work with him either.  Just my $0.02.
Strangely, it was reported at the start of the process that Pederson was likely one of the few people that would work with Baalke.

Will the Flores situation help Byron or hurt him? Or not make a difference? To me it can only help him.

In my opinion it doesn't change anything because he was a serious candidate until the "blindside" of not liking Baalke.

Pretty sure those reports were about Leftwich wowing Khan, not Pederson. Which is why Khan brought Leftwich in instantly for a 2nd interview after the Bucs lost their playoff game. Pederson could have been brought back in for a 2nd interview at any point in time, instead it took 33 days.

Bucs lost on a Sunday and Tuesday Leftwich was doing a 2nd interview that lasted all day and carried into lunch on Wednesday. Then things fell apart for whatever reason and we all know what that reason was. Because of Baalke and Khan being an idiot.

To me trying to connect it to the Flores situation is unfair. Byron was offered the job first out of 12 candidates, but he asked for the GM to be fired. Has that ever been granted to a first time head coach? I mean, we let Urban pick and he gave us the disaster that is Baalke. Don’t get me wrong, I think Byron had the right idea (and I hope he proves successful), but acting like the jags did not want him is lazy reporting.

I mean I'm sure that Baalke gives most people reservations you won't see with other GM's. Leftwich probably came in with a plan on how to fix the team, and wanted to bring Wilson with him. I doubt Leftwich was like "I don't want to work with Trent Baalke. I know the dude's sitting right there. But he's just that bad that I'm willing to straight up tell you I don't want to work with him."

He probably laid out a well-thought-out case for why Trent Baalke is bad for the Jaguars. Especially in terms of Free Agent Acquisition. Meanwhile Adrian Wilson is a former player who probably can connect with players. Building this team is going to be about making people want to come here. Not for a vacation. But to be part of something. And I'm sure that's a big part of Leftwich's pitch.

I mean what other owner at this point would be dumb enough to keep Trent Baalke on? Just look at who he signed to be coach in San Fran. Jim Tomsula and Chip Kelly. Not a good record. Everyone but Shad Khan seems to know Baalke should go. That Leftwich is willing to fight on that, says to me he's a good candidate tbh.
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Pffffff...

Leftwich / Wilson all day. Tired of retreads - it's time for a fresh new look.

At this point, I don't even care, just hire one of em.
The longer we wait, the more damage we do.

The talent pool of assistant coaches is thinning by the day.
If you were an FA, would you want to sign with a franchise as mismanaged as this?
If you were on the team, would you re-sign with a franchise that is indecisive or hesitant?
Get the coaches in place. Get a scheme developed. Get a playbook in the players' hands.

The problem is Baalke is still there, still has access to the players, agents, and media. He will leak, talk to players, etc to improve himself and be waiting for when it fails at somepoint.

I get that, but his professional reputation and future prospect relies on his faith that the other guy is able to build him a roster capable of winning. If through your network of contacts you've heard nothing but bad references about the guy, you might have reservations about taking that job.

It's a safe bet at this stage in his career, he'll get other opportunities. It's not a Bienemy situation where he supposedly does not interview well or is out of favor with the higher ups around the league. Based on that, he might be a little more selective choosing his first opportunity.

The converse is also possible: if he stays on as Bucs OC and thier offensive output plummets, then he's going to be viewed as just another product of Brady.

I’m at the point it’s Byron or bust, and if it’s bust I’m out. Bled teal since I could walk in 96. But getting Lawrence was supposed to be the beginning of something, the mismanagement has felt like it’s the beginning of a funeral. Just unreal.

I am just gonna say that IMO I'd expect 6-8 wins next season with Pederson (aasuming they also hire Spielman and they have a good draft and FA)
If Leftwich is hired I would expect 4-6 wins (assuming the same as above but with Wilson as GM)

Again, just my opinion.
