Chad Henne Signs Two Year Deal

Quote:The Jags will be drafting a QB in this upcoming draft,

We don't know that.   If we're going by the Seattle model.  John Schneider (GM) didn't draft his QB until his 3rd year as GM.

Pro-football reference.  It takes all of five minutes.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Quote:4 MIL per.

1 MIL more per than we paid Cleo Lemon.

Wow!!! That does seem a little high for what Henne brings to the table.

I guess the market for average to below average backup QB's has gone up.

What was the signing bonus and how much of the deal is guaranteed??  I guess it's possible he won't be here next year so it would only be a 1 yr deal.

Cleo Lemon, lol, I barely remember that guy playing, but I do remember he was overpaid for what he brought to the Jags

He was another castoff QB the Jags got from Miami if I remember correctly.

OK Jags, no more signing the Dolphin's castoff QB's...... Please

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

"The 28-year-old Henne led the Jaguars to a 4-4 record in the second half of the season after an 0-8 start and had nine TD passes and five interceptions in the final five games. And he did it without any elite weapons. He lost his best receiver (Justin Blackmon) to an indefinite suspension, didn't get much help from tight end Marcedes Lewis until the last month because of a calf injury, and lost his second-best receiver (Cecil Shorts) for the final three weeks because of a sports hernia."

IMO it speaks to the ease of schedule in weeks 9-15 more than anything.

Not sure you realize how easy that stretch of schedule was. Its unusual to have that many games in a row vs such weak opponents.

Hope Jaguars draft Logan Thomas in the middle of the draft.  That's a good project to have.  Strong arm, runs fast, tall, big.

Seattle wasn't nearly as ineffective at the QB position as the current Jags are. Plus, they also brought in a high priced FA QB, something the Jags have never done.

They also had a tremendous defense and Marshawn lynch to hand their hat on

Don't really care about the signing. I just know Henne is baaaaaad. If its for backup, fine I guess. But there is no guarantee that he won't be starting. I was looking forward to this team bringing in all new QBs and having a free for all for the starting position. Maybe that's what they plan with Henne. This team better put something on the field better than last season. That was just a joke.

But one thing is for certain. Gabbert is history, and that is a breath of fresh air.

Who in the hell was this offense throwing the ball to?!?

Keep in mind the last half of the 2013 schedule was:

Tennessee x2

Arizona

Houston x2

Buffalo

Indy

Cleveland..

Aside from Cleveland who had Josh Gordon go completely nuts on damn near every team, everyone had weapon WR's on offense except the Jags.. And this team STILL won 4 games out of that lineup. So don't give me that pity party BS..

They signed Tarvaris Jackson, for almost exactly the same deal as Jags gave Chad Henne if I'm not mistaking.  2 years 8 mil or something like that.

Cleveland also had Brandon Weeden throwing.

We couldn't even beat Buffalo.  4-4 with that schedule is far from impressive.  And it's not like the wins could be attributed to Henne in any case.
