I’ve seen Zay make some plays though but I don’t think he’s consistent.

I just watched his highlights from last season. I don’t see anything special. I saw a good bit of poor quarterback play from Carr. But I didn’t see anything to me that stood out about Jones.

Did I see $10m/year for him?  Why??  I didn’t see anything more than a reserve guy.

It does sound like the deal is actually $8 million per year with the $10 million figure including incentives.  However, this still makes no sense to me.  Over the last 3 years, he combined for 916 yards and 2 touchdowns.  That's not the average, that's combined.  He played a minimum of 15 games each season, so it isn't like an injury threw off his stats.  He was traded during the 2019 season for a future (2021) 5th round pick.  Last year, he signed a one-year deal for $2.5 million.  This is absurd.

This directly contradicts what Spotrac says. Graziano says we can cut him after 2023 without owing him any money, but spotrac says there is tons of dead money if we do. Which one is correct?

Engram clearly hasn’t been healthy but he’s also been playing with Daniel Jones and a stale offense.

Maybe a new change of scenery and new QB will unlock the potential.

I’m obviously very stoked about Kirk but pretty excited for Engram too (famous last words).

My only concern is how he fits with Kirk. We basically have to play Kirk in the slot, so we better be leading the league in 11 personnel. That basically means we're going 4 wide a ton or Engram is going to have to play inline, which is obviously a terrible idea.

Sooooo, is Engram basically going to be our X or are we going to try to have Kirk play outside where he has proven to be drastically worse? I don't know how you play it so that Kirk is maximized and Engram can also see the field regularly.

I think this day has gone and went as being one of the most exciting and surprising days in Jaguars FA history... my initial thoughts are:

1. Scherff is an amazing add to the line and fills a huge hole and issue we've had for years... bring in some depth incase he gets injured but a solid signing.
2. LB and DT signings scream of upside & potential. Very intrigued with these 2 additions.
3. Engram!! Really? this one definitely is a solid signing and brings another TE weapon for Trevor and Pederson to employ on game day.
4. Zay Jones... makes some other guys expendable but i don't have an issue with Zay in particular but it is a bit of a head scratcher overall.

5. Kirk??? ... unlike some of you i would say that this signing excites me about as much as Zay. I am challenging myself to like this signing and it has nothing to do with his contract.

I feel like we could have came away ARob or Chark... or a trade for Metcalf or Cooper but instead we landed a diminutive WR who is likely in the prime of his career. I have no doubt that he'll have some games where he shows his worth but he doesn't necessarily scream of being that 'go to' receiver that the other 4 guys listed can be... more so, then Kirk. Anyways, all in all... pretty great day overall. T Baalke is totally trying to redeem any chance he has left to keep his job.

Of course we will be mainly 11 personnel. Paying a slot receiver elite money dictates that. The problem is that even in 11 personnel you still can't give Engram quality snaps with Kirk in the slot. He either has to play X, inline, or a second slot in a 4 wide. All of those are very questionable decisions for obvious reasons.

It's not really a huge deal since we only paid Engram a moderate 1 year deal so we don't need to count on him. Just pondering how we can maximize his potential.

I am a fan, not a cheerleader.

I'd still love to go after a thumping ILB like Bobby Wagner. Having a sideline to sideline LB like Wagner next to a fast, coverage LB like Oluokun, would be ideal.

Agreed. Collins could either play OG opposite Scherff, or we could pull the tag on Robinson and have him play OT opposite Little.

This is actually not an awful decision. 

Pull the tag and shift Little to LT, and Collins over the RS... This still would be a great line for Lawrence & solidifies that unit with a selection of Icky Ekwonu in the draft and slot him in at LG.

I've seen a lot of Kirk, he's honestly a really good player but my problem with him prior to and after the signing is this. 

We need a #1 guy, Kirk is a slot guy that i'm not sure can really be an outside #1. And we paid him like one which makes me believe that's where they will put him.
