Loser QBs that never won a playoff game and only had success during meaningless games against weak-[BLEEP] divisional opponents got three 1st round draft picks. Dashaun Watson is a nothing... and that will be proven very quickly.

If they don't trade Laviska before the draft, he could be used as a RB/WR role. 3rd HB on the team and WR 4 on the depth chart. Between Kirk, Jones Jr., and Jones, Lavisha would be competing with Treadwell for the 4th spot. Likely 5th WR spot if a WR is drafted early.
Aside from the drops and inconsistent route running, Laviska has big play potential. Maybe he could be set up better with Doug calling plays over the likes of Bevell. As long as he cleans up all those drops he had, he still has a role on this team. But, if a team offers a draft pick, I would seriously consider taking the deal depending on what it is.
Robert Woods is better than Viska right now and anyone that says different is delusional and seeing things through teal colored glasses. Will Viska end up great? Who knows? I think my point with it is that we aren't trading him because we aren't going to get anything better than a 5 and I'd rather just see what we have with a year under Pederson.

The problem is we have a significant amount of everything that Viska is, and it's all better than Viska. Kirk and Engram are better if we line em up from the slot. Engram and hopefully Etienne are better in the hybrid line em up in the backfield gadget type stuff. Robinson and Etienne are better RB, at least they better be. I don't see any role for Viksa right now where we don't have at least two players who are better for that role. Now, if the offers are just that low then sure hold on to him as insurance for when Engram and/or one of the RB get hurt cause that's likely. If someone offers a 4th rounder then bye bye Shenault. Also, I love the idea of trying to move from 33 to 29 using Laviska since the Chiefs have been the team named as interested.

There are a lot of differences between the two players which may affect their trade values. Robert Woods:
Laviska Shenault:
Other than both playing wide receiver, the two situations are extremely different.

The more I read and think about it, the more I’m coming around to just keeping viska one more year to see if he develops. We have a whole new coaching staff. Let’s see if he can turn things around.

Viska also looks average. I'm saying that he isn't going to command a trade value worth taking. I'd rather give him another year and see if season 2 was really a fluke or not than to trade him for a 5 or higher (because I'm willing to bet we don't get a 1-3 and would feel pretty confident we won't get a 4). Viska showed a lot of promise his rookie year, let’s see what this coaching staff can do with him.
If a team doesn't offer atleast a 3rd then we should hang on to him. I don't see the value in a 4th or 5th round pick.

I dont get where this talk of 1st or early 2nds is coming from. He was drafted early 2nd and his value is now surely lower than it was then given less rookie years left and the fact that he wasn't great last season anyway.

He was alright his rookie year, but it wasn't like he blew people's minds. We are so used to dogshit as a fanbase that we take meh seasons and define it as promise. I'd rather not trade him unless a team is stupid and offers us a day 2 pick and just see if Pederson can turn him into something. We show less advertisements to registered users. But we got a draft pick out of gabbert so anything is possible.

He also outplayed and put Kaepernick on the bench and has been a quality back up in the league for a long time. Gabbert needed to get out of Jville, but what they got for a mere 6th rounder turned it into a very good value trade for them at the time. I don't think this particular transaction is evidence of bad decision making as you seem to be alluding to. Laviska Shenault is a slightly shorter Reggie Williams that gets more seperation and less TD's.
Championship Formula:
1) Draft Trevor Lawrence! 2) Play good physical Defense! 3) Keep 91% of the roster healthy! 4) ??? 5) Blank #2 6) CHAMPIONSHIP!!! I will actually give laviska some credit though for a great catch against the dolphins this season that set up the game winner. |
