I meant Tebow fall, as in him falling to the Broncos in the 2010 draft. And by different result I mean Manziel playing on a higher level than Tebow.

Aaron Murray, QB, Geo. 4. traded to move back into 2nd to get Mason 5. Anthony Steen, OG Ala 5. Tyler Larsen, C Ut. St. 5. traded to move back into 2nd to get Mason 6. Jay Prosch, FB, Aub 7. Connor Shaw, QB, SC
that draft along with some oline help in free agency and we double our wins from last year
Quote:1. Sammy Watkins, WR, Clemwouldn't mind this draft one bit. Don't see us going the Watkins route though. I also don't see Ford in the 2nd round.
Quote:Jags mock :Nice one. Don't love Bridgewater, but we'd have our possible franchise QB, Van Noy and Smith would definitely improve the pass rush, and Richardson would be a great pick in the 4th. Only problem with this scenario is that we really NEED a WR early in the draft that can start. We had the 2nd fewest TD receptions in the NFL last year. With all the pass rush help in Free Agencey, I feel like Caldwell has now positioned himself to be able to trade down if Clowney is there.. I think Clowney could be a bigger headache than he is worth for some reason. Would anybody be mad if the top of the draft and the rest of our picks went down like this?
1. HOU - QB B. Bortles 2. STL - WR S. Watkins 3. MIN - QB T. Bridgewater (from JAC) 4. CLE - DE J. Clowney 5. OAK - OT G. Robinson 6. ATL - OT J. Mattews 7. TAM - DE/OLB K. Mack 8. JAC - QB J. Manziel (not that I really want him, but .....) Rnd 1 - QB J. Manziel, Texas A&M Rnd 2 - OG David Yankey, Stanford Rnd2 - WR Jordan Matthews, Vandy Rnd3 - OC Travis Swanson, Arkansas Rnd4 - RB Leche Seastrunk, Baylor Rnd4 - QB Brad Smith, Wyoming Rnd5 - TE Arthur Lynch, Georgia Quote:With all the pass rush help in Free Agencey, I feel like Caldwell has now positioned himself to be able to trade down if Clowney is there.. Would anybody be mad if the top of the draft and the rest of our picks went down like this?I can get if they don't like Clowney (even though I disagree), but I don't see why they wouldn't just take Manziel at 3. Letting CLE and OAK both pick before us, I doubt Manziel would be there if we valued him that high. Only reason we should trade back is if there's no one there we are really in love with (especially a QB) and it's too good of an offer to pass up.

If Minnesota does not take him at # 8, I would not be surprised if he does not fall to the bottom of round 1 and somebody trade up to get him, like Denver did to get Tebow when he fell in 2010. In the scenario I presented, he just happened to be there at #8 (kind of like a luxury pick) and we still get three starters out of rounds 2 and 3 as a result of the trade back. No trade scenerio:
1st: khalil Mack or Clowney 2nd: kelvin benjamin 3rd: (instert bap C), Bryan Stork (fsu) and Swanson (arkansas) prob avalaible. 4th: Murray Lazy draft but thats something i would love to see. Quote:Would absolutely love this draft.I would also love it. Most of this projection is quite possible, except I don't see Manziel being available at the end of the first. I'd take the best available q.b. in the 2nd (I trust Caldwell to make the right choice, although I have a hunch that McCarron will be better than Garrapalo, Carr or any of the other Tier 2 guys). With the extra 4th and 5th, I'd go for another receiver in the 4th and whoever is the best player available in the 5th.
Man we have a lot of picks now, and if we trade down in the 1st and get an extra 2nd round pick, I can see Caldwell packaging some picks and trading up after the 1st round, maybe more than once. Hmmm.... maybe trade down and take Mike Evans, then use the extra 2nd rounder and a 4th to trade back into the bottom of the 1st and get Manziel if still there. I'd love to see that combo for the Jags for a few years!
Rnd1- WR M. Evans (starting day one, will make any QB look better) Rnd1 - QB J. Manziel (we've seen what he and Evans can do, wow) Rnd2 - OG D. Yankey (starter at RG day one, can also play RT if needed) Rnd3 - OC M. Martin or T. Swanson (Starter if we don't get a Center in FA) Rnd4 - RB L. Seastrunk (lightning to Gerhart's thunder) Rnd5 - QB B. Smith (can play similar style to Manziel if needed) I don't know about you guys, but I'd be pretty excited about that draft. Could renew some of the old excitement from the fans, and some respect from opponents and the rest of the NFL. |
