The tragic miscast of Chaisson
|
He was drafted to develop into an edge rusher after his collegiate career where he showed success in getting to the QB on occasion.
It wasn't properly evaluated the manner in which he got to the QB. The college game is different than the NFL. A player can get by on pure athletic talent when it comes to rushing the passer. No pass rush moves needed. That technique is comparable to BLITZING LBs and DBs in the NFL. They have no moves, but thru scheme, all they need who do is run past or thru an OL, TE, or RB, who aren't prepared. Chaisson is a Sam, Will, or even Mike LB for a 43 defense! He has none and will probably never develop any pass rush moves. It's not in his makeup or mindset. He's a good tackler however and has awareness in open space. Sadly he was miscast here and will probably be cut and may never get a chance on another team unless some GM realizes he's a LB but not a 34 LB or DE. Put him in a 43 and tell him to make tackles with the occasional blitz and he can have a good career. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

As Urban Meyer once said about another player, Chaisson plays small. I liked the pick at the time and thought he would be good, but right now, I don't think he will make the 53 man squad.
He couldn't bring Trubiski down...
Guy will never be a MLB, it would be stupid to put him there.

That's exactly where he has been playing throughout the pre-season within our 3-4 defense. Chaisson may or may not make our 53-Man roster and if he doesn't, it only means that we have better players at the position. See Myles Jack. Time Will Tell. NH3...
