Isn't it strange how James Robinson couldn't seem to find his way out of Urban Meyer's doghouse last year, and now he's one of the AFC's most explosive running backs? It's another example of the post-Meyer night-and-day vibes around the Jaguars, who have put together the best three-week performance in the AFC South -- by far! -- to start the season. Meanwhile, Trevor Lawrence threw three more touchdown passes and seems like a talented young quarterback ready to make the leap. After a beatdown of the Chargers in L.A., the Jags have the feel of a legitimate playoff contender in their muddled conference. That Doug Pederson guy must know what he's doing.

Trevor Lawrence looked crisp as the Jaguars picked apart the Chargers’ defense on Sunday. The team has moved up in this week’s power rankings. The Jaguars are seventh in points scored, sixth in yards gained, fourth in points allowed and seventh in yards allowed. The team has a +46 point differential.

The time has come to start putting some respect on the Jacksonville Jaguars' name.

It isn't just that the 2-1 Jags are in first place in the AFC South. Or that they look light-years better on both offense and defense under new head coach Doug Pederson.

The Jaguars have laid the wood to two teams that many considered contenders entering the season, outscoring the Colts and Chargers 62-10 over the past two weeks. Sunday's rout of the Chargers was arguably Jacksonville's biggest win in years, and Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence believes it sent a message to the rest of the league.

"I think the way we played you can't deny that we're that we're a really good team. But at the end of the day it doesn't really matter what it says about us. We know who we are," said Lawrence. "We played a complete game, and to stack two weeks is big for us."

Moton agrees with him.

"Between Week 18 of last season to now, the Jaguars have jumped from worst to first in the AFC South," he said. "If they didn’t have the league's worst record last year, more pundits would move them in the top 10. This young squad still has a ways to go to get the benefit of the doubt, but second-year quarterback Trevor Lawrence looks like he’s arrived on the NFL level. He's thrown for 772 yards, six touchdowns and an interception in three games."

New head coach Doug Pederson deserves some of the credit for creating easy offense and putting him in a position to succeed, but so much of Lawrence’s success comes from his ability to maximize clean pockets and make the best of his current arsenal of weapons. Free from the clutches of Urban Meyer, the second-year signal-caller ranks third behind Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa in clean-pocket EPA per dropback (0.45). The Jaguars are the biggest riser of any team on this list from last week.

isn't that a load of garbage.  the Broncos look like crap cause they won two games by luck and they are a better team the ones below them.  and how are the Jags below both Titans and Colts, when we destroyed charges and Colts, and Tenn beat only the 0-3 Riaders.

i know the Texans are 0-2-1 but they lost 3 close games could be 3-0 as well and no way they are 32.  that is ridiculous.

I mean, I don't expect much from the power rankings on team-specific sites when it comes to a grasp on how other teams are (especially ones outside the division). Jaguars.com's all-important power rankings aside, obviously. Across the board, though, most people seem to have us at or just under number 10. Which, for the worst team in the league last year, is pretty respectable three games in...

As good as that 17 defense was we still got gashed in the run in multiple games. We traded for Dareus and got much improved but it still wasn't anywhere near as this good in run D. Really the secondary is the only spot I feel that team was better at although this team isn't bad in that department.

They have a kicker on the practice squad too.  They are likely auditioning for it.

In regards to Patterson, he has been accurate with only one miss.  However, he hasn't been strongly tested either.  The knock on him is that he doesn't have a strong leg.  He's only been given one attempt over 50 yards.

The 17 defense needed Dareus.  He was the final link that made the machine work. As good as they were everywhere else when he was out they had issues stopping the run.

A new broom always sweeps clean.

So, what's the point?  We're not allowed to enjoy and even get a bit giddy about back to back wins?  Dominant wins even?  When was the last time this team had back to back dominant wins?  I want to say 2017 (too lazy to look it up), but that team, as good as it was, was wildly inconsistent thanks to the offense.  No, we're allowed to enjoy it and even be silly about it if we want.  We're not the ones that need to stay grounded and get back to focusing on playing another game next week.

Fun Fact: in 2000 against Cleveland and Arizona, Fred Taylor rushed for 318 yards and 5 TD. He put up 30 points in those 2 games and averaged 5.99 yards per carry.

Another Fun Fact: in 2000 during those 2 games the Jags’ defense held the Browns to 0 points and the Cardinals to 10 points. In the Jags last 2 games the Jags’ defense gave up 0 points to the Colts and 10 points to the Chargers.
